Chapter Eight

Reggie

Grippingmychair,Istared out the small window. I still had no idea how I ended up in this situation. One moment, I was meeting Colin's cousin and the next, I was on a plane heading to Colorado with a man I had just met the night before. The jet jerked, and I gasped before squeezing the arm of the chair tighter.

"It's okay, mon chou," Colin leaned toward me. "It's perfectly safe up here."

I glared at him through my peripheral vision, giving him the "side-eye," as my mom used to call it. "This is my first time on a plane, and we're thousands of feet in the air, hurtling through the sky at hundreds of miles an hour, and you call it safe."

Colin grinned, and his dimple appeared. Damn that sexy dimple. What the hell was I doing here? I thought for the millionth time.

"It's not that bad. Statistically, it's safer to fly than drive," Colin said.

I growled. "That may be, but I don't even know why I'm here or what's going on. I'm putting a lot of faith in you, and you promised to explain things. Well, there's plenty of time now for explanations."

Colin sighed. "I did say I'd explain things, and I will." He paused and looked around the small jet. His cousin was seated at the front of the plane, talking with the steward.

"Colin, please," I said softly.

I wanted to know what was happening. Colin nearly collapsed after that phone call, and tears flooded his eyes. I didn't know what was happening or what had happened.

Colin closed his eyes and nodded before opening his eyes and facing me. "Someone important was hurt. They may die," he said.

Was this someone important to Colin or just part of his job? I studied Colin's face, and I had my answer. "Who was hurt?"

"His name is Zander and…." Colin stopped.

"Who is Zander to you?" I asked, dread filling me.

Colin shook his head and shifted his body to face me fully. "In your game, they have magic and stuff, right?"

I jerked back, confused and taken aback by the question. "Yes, but—"

"What if I told you magic was real?" Colin interrupted. "That there were more than just humans out there and that Fate was real."

"I'd say you were—"

I didn't get to finish when Colin interrupted again. "I told you we were meant for each other, and we are. I knew the second I met you. You were made for me, and you were a part of my soul.” He stopped and took a deep breath before continuing. “I’m not human. My kind have mates that are destined by fate because of our long lives. Zander is our other mate. The other part of our soul."

"What the fuck kind of horse shit is this?" I yelled, anger flowing through me. The first guy I met that I felt a connection with, and he's a fucking nut job.

"It's not a lie. It's the truth," Colin said, lifting his hand.

I scrambled back and pressed my back against the bulkhead as I stared at his sharp, talon-like claw. I glanced up at his face; his usually green eyes were gone and they were blood red. Cold sweat beaded on my forehead, my heart hammering so loud it felt deafening. Every instinct screamed danger.

"Mon chou, please don't be scared," Colin said.

The claw instantly transformed into his hand, and his eyes returned to the lovely green. "I'm a vampire, Reggie. You are my beloved. My soulmate, and I will never hurt you."

I didn't know how to react. I couldn't deny the truth that was right before me. "And Zander?" I asked. I didn't want to think about the fact he just said he was a vampire.

"Zander is our other beloved. He's the other part of our soul."

"You said "our." Are you saying I'm his soulmate too? You want to have a threesome?"

Colin smirked. "Among other things, but yes. He's your mate as well as mine."

"Colin, this is a lot to take in, and you said he's hurt."
