GS:I think it’s only fair that such a known fry connoisseur shares his knowledge with the people. We all want good fries.
DM:I like all fries.
GS:Okay, but what is your favorite?
DM:The thick-cut ones, no fancy seasoning. Freshly fried in peanut oil and then salted while they’re still hot. Serve them with a side of ketchup—Heinz only—and that is my favorite plate of fries.
GS:Doesn’t that ketchup brand sponsor you?
DM:Yes, but I would say the same thing with or without the sponsorship. They are the only ketchup.
TM:It’s true.
GS:What have you learned during your career as a professional driver?
DM:That I love speed, but sometimes it’s good to slow down.
GS:What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
DM:Trent and my kids.
GS:More specifically, in racing?
DM:Having the guts to reach for my dreams. All my trophies are pretty cool too.
GS to TM:We’ve talked a lot about Drew and his career, but nothing about yours.
TM:This isGearShark, a racing magazine. I don’t drive.
GS:That one time, you did. With Drew in your lap.
TM:I’d do anything for Drew.
GS: You do work with the NRR in a prominent position given to you by Ron Gamble himself.
DM:Trent earned his job. He’s a genius in business.
GS:I have no doubt about that. You also serve as Drew’s spotter at all his races, right?
TM:Yes.
GS:How do you both balance such demanding careers while raising two kids?
TM:I have a lot of flexibility with my job. I can do it from home or on the road with Drew. Plus, we have an amazing family that helps when we need them.
GS:Where do you see yourselves in five years?
TM:Together and happy.
DM:What he said.
GS:Nothing more specific?
TM:Nothing else matters.
GS:Are you up for a few rapid-fire questions before we end the interview?
DM:Bring it.
