I traced my fingers over the title, feeling a shiver run down my spine. As I looked up at Liam, I saw the same apprehension mirrored in his eyes and the furrow of his brow. The rest of the room held their breath, watching us intently. Taking a deep breath, I began to read the prophecy out loud.

"In the world where shadows blend with light, A maiden of twenty-five shall rise from the night. Descendant of Diana, Queen of Witches and Beasts, Half witch, half wolf, her lineage in the least..." As the words flowed from my lips, the atmosphere in the room grew heavier, as if the air itself was charged with power. I felt a strange mix of fear and awe; it was as if the ancient words were weaving an invisible thread around us all, binding our fates together.

"Born of two worlds, she's a hybrid so rare, Destined to change fates, with power to bear. She'll encounter a man, from realms dark or light, His submission to her, sets their spirits alight..." My voice wavered as I continued, the weight of the prophecy settling on my shoulders like a cloak. I could feel the gazes of everyone in the room fixed on me, their hearts pounding in time with mine as they hung on every word.

"Balance is crucial, for the stakes are so high, The gods watching closely with a vigilant eye. So, heed this prophecy, for as legends declare, Love and choice rule over despair, with Diana's care."

Silence descended upon the room as I finished reading, the last words of the prophecy lingering in the air like a haunting melody.

"Love and choice," I whispered to myself, feeling the truth of those words deep within my soul. My heart swelled with both fear and determination, knowing that it would be up to Liam and me to navigate the treacherous path laid out before us.

"Erica," Liam said, his voice a mix of wonder and concern. "This...this means you're destined for something greater than any of us could have imagined."

I blinked, the weight of the prophecy settling heavily on my shoulders as I looked around at the faces of those who meant so much to me. Liam, his dark eyes filled with love and concern; Damon, a hint of amusement playing at the corners of his mouth; Marshall, a mixture of disbelief and curiosity etched into his features.

"Last night," I began hesitantly, "I had this intense dream. It was about a cage that held both a wolf and a witch within it. There was something...important about it, but I couldn't quite grasp what it meant." At my words, Damon chuckled softly before reaching for a sheet of paper on the table that Liam had got the book from. He returned moments later holding a piece of paper that appeared to be a child's drawing. The image depicted a cage with two shadowy figures inside, unmistakably a wolf and a witch.

"Erica, the witch we went to see, has a daughter who is a mirror worker," Damon explained, handing me the drawing. "She drew this before our visit. It seems that your dream may have more significance than you realise."

"Who's the witch?" Marshall asked, his voice betraying his curiosity.

"Audrey Willowvane," Damon replied, and I could detect a hint of warmth in his voice. At the mention of her name, Marshall burst into laughter, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Gayle Willowvane, Audrey's mother, was the third witch who helped delay Liam's curse," he said once his laughter subsided. "It's all connected, somehow."

"Wait," Damon interjected, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Audrey told us something else. The Sorcerer who placed the curse on Liam was Myron Tressier, her father." Alpha Declan rubbed the back of his neck, his eyes wide with shock.

"It's... amazing how all these pieces come together."

I couldn't help but shudder as I recalled Jasper's offer before he let me go. He promised that if I agreed to be his mate, he would get the sorcerer to remove the curse on Liam. My heart clenched at the thought, and my breath hitched in my throat.

"Hey, it'll be alright," Liam murmured, squeezing my hand. Sadness mingled with determination in his eyes. "We just need to get your wolf out of the cage so you can shift. Everything is connected somehow." Marshall nodded solemnly.

"The best people to ask about this would be Becca and Charlene. They know more about the prophecy than I ever could."

"Can you get them to come here?" Liam asked, desperation lacing his voice. Marshall nodded and said he would go find out straight away.

As he left the room, I hesitated, biting my lip. There was one more person who might have answers, but Liam wouldn't like it. Taking a deep breath, I decided to share my thoughts with him.

"Um, there may be someone else who has answers," I said slowly, my voice barely above a whisper. "But you're not going to like it."

Chapter 34

Erica

"Grant."Thenamelingeredin the air like a forbidden secret, and I could see the storm brewing behind Liam's dark eyes. I knew he was going to say no, but I needed to see Grant for myself. There were too many unanswered questions surrounding the Key Stone Prophecy, and Grant seemed to know something about it.

"Absolutely not," Liam declared, his voice firm and unwavering. "I won't let that bastard near you."

"But I know he won't hurt me," I insisted, even as my heart hammered against my ribcage. It wasn't so much that I trusted Grant, but I had an inexplicable feeling that he held the answers I sought.

"Erica, he already kidnapped you once!" Liam's anger flared, and I knew it was born from the fear of losing me, of seeing me hurt. "How can you think he won't hurt you again?" I clenched my fists, trying to keep my frustration in check.

"I just... I need to do this, Liam. I have to find out what he knows." Liam's eyes softened for a moment, betraying the love he felt for me. But his resolve remained as strong as ever.

"You're not going anywhere near him. That's final." My heart felt like it was pounding in my chest as I sighed, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in my stomach. I forced a smile onto my face and looked at Liam, my voice softening.

"Do you trust me?"
