I sensed it before I saw it, the dark shadow that rushed past me, a blur of movement that sent a wave of fear and confusion crashing through my veins. The impact knocked the woman off balance, her body teetering on the edge of the cliff.
"NO!" I screamed, panic coursing through me as I lunged toward her, my fingertips brushing against her outstretched hand. The cliff's edge crumbled beneath my feet, treacherous and unforgiving, and I knew that I was moments away from plummeting into the abyss below.
"Erica!" the woman cried out, her voice laced with terror and desperation. "You must uncover the real threat! Trust yourself!" Her words struck me like a dagger to the heart, and I realised that as I tried to hold on to her, I too was being pulled over the edge, my life hanging by a thread.
"Who is it?" I demanded, my voice choked with tears. "Who is the real threat?" But the woman's cries were swallowed by the darkness, her body slipping through my fingers like sand through an hourglass. I stared down at the churning void below, terror and despair mingling with the bone-deep certainty that I had failed her.
My heart thundered in my chest as I braced for the inevitable impact, the darkness threatening to swallow me whole. But just as I was about to be consumed by the void, a strong hand grasped my arm, yanking me back from the edge of oblivion.
"Erica!" a familiar voice called out, pulling me into their arms. The relief that washed over me was short-lived, replaced quickly by confusion and lingering fear. "You're safe now."
"Jasper?" I breathed, my eyes widening at the sight of his blond hair and piercing blue eyes. His presence was both comforting and confusing, stirring up memories of our tumultuous past.
"Easy," he murmured, his grip tightening around me. "It's going to be okay."
"Is it really you?" I asked, my voice trembling with a mix of hope and doubt. The atmosphere around Jasper seemed to shimmer with an irresistible allure, drawing me in despite my better judgement.
"Of course it's me," he replied, his eyes locked onto mine, searching for something I couldn't quite identify. "Who else would it be?"
"But why are you here?" I demanded, fear gnawing at the corners of my mind. "How did you find me?"
"Does it matter?" he asked, his voice soft and almost tender. "I'm here now, and I won't let anything happen to you."
"I don't understand," I whispered, the weight of my confusion making it difficult to breathe.
"Erica, I swear I'm here to protect you," he murmured, his blue eyes searching mine for any sign of trust. "There are things at work here that even I don't understand. But I know one thing for certain, you're in danger. I tried to warn you, but did you listen?" His words sent a shiver down my spine, and I fought against the urge to lean into him, seeking solace in his strong arms.
"Jasper, how can I trust you?" I whispered, my voice barely audible above the rustling leaves and distant growls that seemed to surround us. "After what you have done to me."
"I know I've made mistakes, Erica. Terrible mistakes. But I'm different now, and I promise you, I'll do everything in my power to keep you safe." The sincerity in his voice struck a chord deep within me, making it even harder to maintain the fragile barriers I'd built around my heart. My resolve wavered, threatening to crumble under the weight of my conflicting emotions.
"Jasper..." I breathed, the word a plea and a warning all at once. In response, he leaned in, his lips hovering mere inches from mine. My pulse raced, an intoxicating mixture of desire and fear surging through my veins. It felt as if the entire world was holding its breath, waiting to see what I would do.
"Jasper...I..."
But before I could make up my mind, his eyes suddenly darkened, and in a swift motion, he shoved me with force. I gasped, feeling the ground vanish beneath my feet as shock and terror washed over me. My world spiraled into chaos, and I plummeted, grasping at the empty air. Jasper's face haunted my descent, a vivid representation of my inner struggle between love, lust, and betrayal. The atmosphere around me became a turbulent reflection of my emotional turmoil, the shadows twisting and contorting with every heart-wrenching emotion that coursed through me.
"Jasper!" I screamed, my voice barely a whisper against the chaotic whirlwind that surrounded me. "Why?"
As I fell further into the abyss, something shifted in the dream, and the once-comforting presence of Jasper morphed into someone else, Liam. His sinister laughter echoed through the darkness, mocking and cruel.
"Did you really think it would be that easy, Erica?" Liam sneered, his voice intertwining with the howling wind that whipped past me. His dark brown eyes regarded me with cold amusement, chilling me to the bone.
"No," I whimpered, my heart pounding in my chest as the realisation hit me. "This can't be real."
"Reality is what you make of it, my dear," Liam taunted, the sound of his laughter growing more distant as I continued to fall. The atmosphere around me became a chaotic whirlwind of emotions, mirroring the whirlpool of confusion, fear, and unwanted desire churning within me, while Liam's sinister laughter reverberated through my soul.

Iwokeupscreaming,my heart pounding and my body drenched in cold sweat. The dream had been so vivid, so real, that I couldn't shake the utter terror it left behind. Jasper's face haunted me; his ice-blue eyes pierced through me as he went from saving me to pushing me off a cliff. And then...it was Liam.
"Get away!" I screeched, feeling something snake around my arm. Panicking, I tried to pull away, but it only tightened its grip. I struggled against it, my fear escalating by the second.
"Erica, it's me! Calm down!" Liam's voice broke through my hysteria. The grip on my arm loosened, and suddenly the room was flooded with warm light. Blinking against the sudden brightness, I realised I was in bed with Liam, safe within the walls of our home.
"Wh-what happened?" I stammered, still trying to process the nightmare. My chest heaved with each breath, and I could feel the adrenaline coursing through me.
