"LIAM!" I screamed, praying that he could hear me, that he would burst through the door and save me from this nightmare. But my desperate cry seemed only to spur Louis on, his wolf eyes narrowing as he prepared to lunge.

I didn't have time to think; my instincts kicked in. As Louis launched himself at me with a ferocious snarl, I threw my legs out, making contact with his underside. I tried to use his momentum to propel him over me, but the weight and speed of the beast sent pain shooting up my already injured ankle. I could hear and feel a snap, and I couldn't help but scream out in agony. My vision blurred, and I fought for consciousness, knowing that I needed to stay alert if I had any hope of surviving. I clenched my teeth and blinked away the tears, trying to focus on the sound of the struggle at the door.

The agony in my ankle was a consuming fire, making it nearly impossible to focus on anything else. I tried to blink away the tears that blurred my vision, but all I could see was the twisted shape of my foot, now at an unnatural angle. My heart raced as panic began to set in, and each thud against the locked door only heightened my sense of urgency.

"Please... let it be Liam," I thought desperately, praying for his strength and determination to save me from this nightmare. As if sensing my growing terror, Louis closed in on me, his hot breath tickling the back of my neck like tendrils of fire. He was so close; I knew I had run out of time.

Just when I thought it was over, a sudden crash shattered the oppressive silence. Glass rained down like icy daggers, and a large black shape hurtled through the broken window. In a blur of fur and fangs, Liam's wolf form threw himself at Louis, snarls and growls echoing throughout the room as they collided. He fought viciously to protect me, forcing Louis further away, but the other wolf refused to be deterred. They circled one another, teeth bared and hackles raised, their eyes locked in a deadly dance.

A sudden, sharp tug to my side sent a fresh wave of agony shooting up my leg, and I couldn't help but cry out in pain. Blinking through the tears that clouded my vision, I saw Frankie's familiar face, her eyes filled with concern as she tried to pull me away from the fight.

"Erica, we need to get you out of here," she said urgently, her voice strained as she struggled to drag me across the floor. I nodded through gritted teeth, trying to focus on anything other than the searing pain in my ankle.

My gaze was drawn back to the snarling wolves, their bodies a whirlwind of fur and fangs as they fought for dominance. Panic rose in my chest when I saw Louis's powerful jaws close around Liam's neck, his teeth sinking into the vulnerable flesh.

"No!" I screamed, my heart thundering in my ears. But before Louis could do any further damage, another dark brown wolf crashed through the window, slamming into him and knocking them both apart. Relief washed over me as I recognised Damon's familiar form, his eyes burning with a fierce determination.

"Stay with me, Erica," Frankie murmured, her grip tightening on my arm as she continued to pull me towards the safety of the far corner. My body trembled with pain and fear, but I forced myself to stay focused on the battle unfolding before us. Liam and Damon worked seamlessly together, their movements fluid and coordinated as they circled around Louis, trapping him against the wall. The air crackled with tension, the room filled with snarls and growls as they closed in on their opponent.

The room seemed to come alive as pack warriors flooded in, their faces etched with concern and determination. Alpha Declan and Beta Gregg stormed in, their eyes immediately locking onto the snarling wolves before them. I could feel the power radiating off Declan, his alpha authority commanding attention as he strode forward.

"Louis, shift now!" His voice boomed, an undeniable force that sent shivers down my spine. I watched as Louis struggled against the command, fighting the natural instinct to obey his Alpha. His body trembled, caught between his desire for revenge and the powerful influence of the Alpha's order.

"Shift!" Declan roared again, his frustration palpable.

Just when it seemed like Louis might finally succumb to the command, something changed. Frankie gasped beside me, her grip tightening on my arm as she stared at the scene unfolding before us. The air was thick with tension, and I could sense the weight of everyone's gazes on us. Liam and Damon both snarled viciously, and without hesitation, they lunged at him. Every muscle in my body tensed, fear and hope warring inside me as I watched the attack unfold. Liam reached Louis first, his powerful jaws closing around the other wolf's throat. I could almost hear the sickening crunch as he tore through flesh and bone, ending Louis's threat once and for all. My heart pounded wildly, relief and shock coursing through my veins. As the lifeless body of Louis crumpled to the floor, I allowed myself a shaky breath. The room seemed to hold its collective breath, the sudden silence deafening in the wake of the brutal battle.

My thoughts were a swirling mess, trying to piece together the whirlwind of events that had just unfolded. I knew we had won, but the cost was still uncertain. My attention was suddenly drawn away from my internal chaos as Beta Gregg approached me, his brow furrowed with concern.

"Let me see your leg, Erica," he said gently, kneeling beside me. I could feel his worry for me, and it only served to heighten my own anxiety.

"Is it bad?" I asked, already knowing the answer. I could see the bone protruding through my skin, the pain nearly blinding as it radiated up my leg.

"Definitely broken," Gregg confirmed, swallowing hard. "We need a medic over here!" His voice carried across the room, and within moments, a young woman in white scrubs rushed to our side.

As she reached out to examine my injury, her touch seemed to ignite the pain even further. I couldn't help but scream, the sound tearing through the air like a banshee's cry. The snarl that followed was unmistakable; Liam, still in his wolf form, lunged at the medic with an intensity that made my heart race. But before he could reach her, Damon intercepted him, his ebony form crashing into Liam's and sending both wolves skidding across the floor. Alpha Declan stepped forward, his powerful voice cutting through the chaos.

"Get yourself under control, boy!" he barked, his dark eyes locking onto his son's fierce gaze.

I could see the poor medic trembling, her eyes wide with terror as she stared at Liam. It was clear she had never expected to find herself facing down an enraged werewolf while simply doing her job.

The medic's hands shook noticeably as she glanced between my mangled leg and Liam's warning growl. I could see the fear in her eyes, but she was obviously trying to maintain a brave face for my sake. I admired her courage and hated that this situation was putting her in harm's way.

"Her leg..." She swallowed hard, and looked up at Beta Gregg, her voice wavering slightly. "It's healing crooked. It'll need to be... re-broken." My stomach churned at the thought, bile rising in my throat. My body already felt like it had been through hell, and the thought of enduring even more pain made me light-headed. But I knew she was right; if I wanted any hope of walking normally again, it had to be done.

Liam growled low in his throat, his hackles raised and teeth bared. He didn't trust anyone to hurt me, even if it was necessary. That protective streak was both endearing and terrifying, and right now, it was making life difficult for the poor medic.

"Enough, Liam," I hissed through gritted teeth. "She isn't hurting me on purpose." As if understanding my words, Liam's wolf form pressed itself against me. His warm fur provided a small amount of comfort, and I buried my face into his neck, inhaling his familiar scent of gingerbread and fire. It brought back memories of safety and solace, helping to calm my frayed nerves.

"Alright," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "Do it." Beta Gregg exchanged a nod with the medic, giving her the go-ahead. I tightened my grip on Liam's fur, preparing myself for the inevitable wave of pain that would follow.

"Okay, Luna, on three," the medic announced, her voice steady despite the tension in the room. I nodded, focusing on Liam's fur as I clutched it tightly in my hands, feeling the softness and warmth against my skin. The scent of gingerbread and fire filled my nostrils, providing a small measure of comfort amidst the impending pain.

"Are you ready?" the medic asked softly, her fingers lightly brushing my swollen ankle. Even that slight touch sent a jolt of agony up my leg, and I gritted my teeth, trying to mentally prepare myself for what was coming. My heart hammered in my chest, anxiety coiling like a snake in my stomach.

"Alright," she breathed, gripping my leg firmly. "One." Before I even had time to brace myself for impact, an almighty crack rang through the room, and with it came a tidal wave of searing, unbearable pain. It felt as if hot iron rods were being driven through my bones, setting every nerve on fire. I screamed, the sound raw and primal, tears streaming down my face as I clung to Liam's fur for dear life.

The room seemed to spin around me, disorienting and terrifying, making it nearly impossible to concentrate on anything but the throbbing agony radiating from my broken leg. My strength was dwindling rapidly, sapped by the relentless pain. The darkness at the edges of my vision began to swallow me whole, and I knew I was slipping away. It wasn’t long before the edges of my vision started to darken and I was swallowed into the black sea of unconsciousness.
