"Do I look like an Omega to you?" I snarled, my voice dripping with contempt. Heidi's amber eyes widened in terror, flickering between my pale gold wolf irises and the sea of curious onlookers surrounding us. The room had grown eerily silent, no doubt due to the spectacle we were providing. She looked like a deer caught in headlights, her body rigid with fear beneath mine as she finally began to grasp the extent of my power.

"Answer me," I demanded, my grip tightening on her wrists which were pinned above her head. The force of my words made her wince. Despite my inability to shift, the raw strength radiating from me was palpable. It was a reminder that I was not weak, despite what others may have thought. I felt my blood boil at the memory of Heidi's constant belittling, her insistence on referring to me as an Omega.

"Y-yes," she stammered, her voice barely audible. "You're not an Omega, Erica."

"Good," I replied, my tone icy. I wanted to make sure she understood the gravity of the situation, that she would never dare underestimate me again.

I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. It was Damon, his dark eyes filled with concern as he tried to help me get the Alpha power under control, something we had been working on for the past two months.

"Erica, how are you doing?" he asked, his voice soft and steady. I wanted to respond calmly, to reassure him that I could handle this surge of power coursing through me, but all I could manage was an involuntary growl. My body tensed at the sound, threatening to unleash the full force of my abilities if provoked further. Liam, sensing the danger and feeling possessive of me, his mate, matched my growl with one of his own, directed at Damon. As much as I appreciated Damon's assistance, a primal part of me understood Liam's need to protect what was his.

"Wait a minute, Liam," Damon said, holding up his free hand in a placating gesture. He never broke eye contact with me, trusting that I wouldn't lash out. A couple of guards stepped closer, their wary expressions telling me they were ready to intervene if necessary.

Damon tried to push his calming cool gift in to me.

"Come back to us, Erica," he urged gently. "You're stronger than this." I glanced at him, forcing a grin while keeping Heidi pinned to the floor with one hand.

"Does it look like I'm not in control?" Damon raised an eyebrow and smirked, trying to lighten the tense atmosphere.

"Well, you're in some sort of scary control. In fact, I'm not sure which one scares me more right now. Uncontrolled gold-eyed Erica or controlled gold-eyed Erica." His words sparked a flicker of amusement deep within me, momentarily distracting me from the burning desire to assert my dominance over Heidi. I knew he was joking, but there was an underlying truth behind his words, the power coursing through me was both intoxicating and terrifying. It was a double-edged sword, one that could either protect those I cared for, or destroy them. Damon glanced up at Liam, seeking approval and permission to continue. Liam's eyes locked on mine for a moment, filled with a mix of concern and trust before he gave Damon a subtle nod.

"Alright, Erica," Damon said, resuming his role as the calming force in my life, "why don't you show me how in control you are and bring back those pretty green eyes of yours?" My grin widened almost manically, the thrill of power coursing through me like lightning.

"Hold on just one moment," I told him, voice laced with a dark edge that even I could barely recognise.

I turned my attention back to Heidi, who was still pinned beneath my grasp. Her amber eyes were wide with terror, the helpless look of a cornered animal. As my gold wolf eyes bore into her, I felt the satisfaction of asserting my dominance. It was a sensation that was both intoxicating and terrifying, and I knew I had to tread carefully.

"Please," Heidi whimpered, the sound so pitiful it almost made me want to release her. Almost. A growl rumbled deep in my chest, the raw power within me demanding submission. With a wicked smile still plastered on my face, I focused on the trembling figure beneath me. Heidi's eyes widened in terror, her breath hitching in her throat as she realised that she was the object of my attention once more.

"Listen closely, Heidi," I hissed, my voice laced with venom. "Liam is mine. He belongs to me, and you need to stay far, far away from him." Heidi whimpered again, and I could feel her body shaking under my grip. But I wasn't done yet.

"Furthermore," I continued, my tone colder than ice, "if I ever hear that you've gone near Liam, or any of my friends for that matter, or if you cause even the slightest bit of trouble... I will hunt you down and rip you apart, piece by agonising piece. Understand?" As if her life depended on it, which, let's be honest, it did, Heidi nodded frantically, tears streaming down her cheeks. Satisfied, I released her and stood up, revelling in the power coursing through my veins.

"Fuck off," I spat at her, watching as she scrambled to her feet and practically tripped over herself in her haste to escape. Within moments, she had disappeared out of the bar, leaving nothing but the lingering scent of her fear behind. I couldn't help but smirk at her retreating form, feeling a surge of triumph as the room remained silent in the wake of my outburst.

The air crackled with tension as I stood, the remnants of Heidi's fear still tangible in the atmosphere. I looked around the room, my gaze drifting over the myriad of faces watching me intently, their expressions a mix of fear, concern and, in some cases, excitement.

"Damn, Erica," Frankie breathed, her eyes shining with admiration as she took a step towards me. "That was... intense." I glanced at her, noting how her tattooed arms seemed to vibrate with energy, as if she were eager to join in on whatever chaos I had just unleashed. It wasn't surprising, given her penchant for getting into trouble. My eyes found Liam, his expression a mixture of awe and pride, and my heart clenched. This was the man who mattered most to me, the one whose opinion carried more weight than anyone else's. And if he was proud of what I'd done, maybe it wasn't so terrible after all.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly, stepping closer until our bodies nearly touched.

"I'm fine," I replied, forcing a smile. "Just trying to get used to this... power."

"Take your time," he murmured, his handsome face etched with concern. "You don't have to master it all at once."

I closed my eyes, focusing on drawing the alpha power back into myself, feeling it recede like a tide pulling away from the shore. The warmth of Liam's presence served as an anchor, keeping me grounded as I navigated the unfamiliar territory of my newfound abilities. When I opened my eyes again, I knew they had returned to their usual green, reflecting the calm that had settled within me.

The room seemed to sway as the last remnants of the alpha power ebbed away, leaving me drained and vulnerable in its wake. My limbs felt heavy, my head clouded with fatigue that threatened to pull me under like a riptide.

"Erica?" Liam's voice came from somewhere far away, his concern lapping at the edges of my consciousness. I tried to keep my gaze focused on him, but even that took more effort than I had left to give.

"Ti-tired," I mumbled, feeling every ounce of my exhaustion in that single word. The world around me blurred and darkened, and I could sense the impending collapse before it happened. But just as my knees buckled beneath me, Liam was there, his strong arms catching me before I could hit the unforgiving floor. His embrace was like a lifeline, steadying me even as everything else threatened to crumble.

"Easy now," he murmured into my hair, his breath warm against my scalp. "I've got you."

"Thank you," I whispered, grateful not only for his physical support but also for the unwavering love that shone through each and every one of his words. It was a beacon in the storm, guiding me back to shore when I felt lost at sea. As he lifted me into his arms, I nestled against his chest, the steady thrum of his heartbeat lulling me into a fragile sense of security. Though my body ached and my mind reeled, I knew that I was safe with him, and that he would protect me, no matter what the future held.

"Rest," Liam urged softly, pressing a tender kiss to the top of my head. "We'll figure everything out together, but for now, you need to heal." And then, feeling safe and protected, I allowed myself to be swallowed into the darkness.
