Need danced between them, the sounds of their breathing and movements loud in the otherwise quiet room.

The muscles in his arms vibrated, and he told himself to slow down. To take his time and stretch this out. But he physically couldn’t. Not with Sky making those sweet sounds. Not with her legs tangled around him and her hips lifting to meet his.

He slipped his hand between their bodies and rubbed his thumb over her clit in a circular motion.

She grabbed his upper arms and arched, keening as she fell. Shattering beneath him.

When she screamed his name, it almost broke him.

He pumped harder, stroking her, prolonging her orgasm. Watching as she completely abandoned all inhibition.

He kept thrusting until his own body finally tensed and he exploded, growling as he dug his head into the crook of her neck.

When he finally stilled, they both breathed deeply, every one of his inhales a breath of her. Her sweet scent that at some point he’d become utterly addicted to.

A few more breaths and he lifted his head to see her eyes hooded, a slow smile curving her lips. “Why did we waste so much time fighting when we could have been doingthat?”

He laughed. He could barely fucking speak, and she came out with that?

He rolled to the side, dragging her into him. “I don’t know, Peaches. It was our mistake.”

“A huge mistake.” They lay there for a few seconds before she gasped. “Your pasta!”

“I took it off the heat. It’s probably just gone cold.”

“Sex and cold pasta, that’s my kind of evening.”

“Yeah? You know whatmykind of night is?”

She looked up at him, her cheeks still a pretty pink, eyes still half closed. “What?”

“Anything that includes you.”

CHAPTER22

Sky sank deeper into the warm sheets.

Mm. Bed felt good this morning. Warm and cozy. Far too comfortable to get up.

She rolled to the side and an ache between her thighs had the previous night slamming back to her mind.

Her eyes sprang open.

Becket. She’d had sex with Becket. But he wasn’t in the bed with her now. Her room was empty. Not a huge surprise. He’d woken before her every morning for the last week, usually to make them coffee.

She bit her bottom lip, nerves fluttering in her belly.

Was he down there? What was he thinking? Did he regret anything?

She sat up, pulling the sheet over her chest.

If someone had told her a few months ago that she’d have sex with her stubborn, tree-destroying neighbor, she’d have thought they were insane. But now? He felt like a different person. They felt liketwodifferent people. He wasn’t her stubborn, tree-destroying neighbor anymore. He was the man who’d jumped into a reservoir to save her life. He was the guy who’d refused to leave her side for a week to help her recover.

Now, he was just Becket.

She threw back the covers. She needed coffee. A big, gigantic mug of coffee to wake her up.

Maybe he’d run home and she’d have a chance to down a coffee and feel semi-human before they saw each other and had the post-sex chat.
