“I’m trying. Trust doesn’t come as easily to me as it should. Anyway, I didn’t ask. Are you here because you’re close to Linda?”

Tilly’s brows rose. “Actually, I’m—”

Her words were cut off by a small commotion near the entrance. Harper turned her head to see a beautiful woman with thick auburn hair and ice-blue eyes throw her arms around Cody’s shoulders. Behind her stood a tall man with light brown hair and gray eyes.

Harper shifted her attention back to the woman. There was something oddly familiar about her. When she released Cody, she moved to Eastern and wrapped her arms around him beforeAvery’s small arms wrapped around the woman’s legs. That’s when it clicked.

Tilly leaned into her. “That’s—”

“Nylah,” Harper finished with a smile. “Cody’s twin sister.”

“What the hellare you doing here, Ny?” Cody asked, unable to wipe the smile from his face as his twin lifted Avery into her arms. He hadn’t seen his sister in months.

Nylah frowned at him. “You thought I was going to miss Linda’s party? That woman’s family. I had to come.”

Liam stepped forward and held out his hand. “It’s good to see you again, Cody.”

“You too, Liam. You doing well after everything?”

Cody had left Cradle Mountain shortly after the office of Liam’s security company had been blown up and his team almost killed. It was a crazy mess.

“Yeah, we’re doing really well, actually,” Liam said with a nod. “Working from a new office and happy to not have any assholes targeting us.”

“Good. I’m glad.” After everything he and his team had gone through, they deserved to be safe and happy.

Nylah was just setting Avery back on her feet when Kayden stepped out of the crowd. He grinned before Nylah threw her arms around him. He swore his sister was the only person who could make their grumpy oldest brother smile.

“What are you doing here?” Kayden asked as they parted.

“I can’t believe any of you need to ask that. It’s Linda’s retirement party.” She shifted her gaze to Cody and lowered her voice. “And I need to meet Harper. Is she here?”

Ofcoursehis nosy twin sister would want to meet Harper.

He lifted his gaze to see Harper watching both him and Nylah from across the room. He smiled at her and immediately, she headed toward them. When she reached his side, he slipped an arm around her waist. “Harper, this is my twin sister, Nylah, and her partner, Liam. Nylah and Liam, this is Harper.”

Liam dipped his head. “It’s nice to meet you.”

“You t—”

Harper’s greeting was cut off when Nylah tugged her into her arms. “It’s so nice to finally meet you! I’ve heard so much about you.”

Harper chuckled. “Good things, I hope.”

“The best.” Nylah pulled back. “Is my brother treating you right?”

“He is.”

“Good. Otherwise, I’d have to beat his ass.” She thumped his shoulder before turning back to Harper. “You don’t have a drink. Come on, let’s get a drink and you can tell me everything.”

Cody frowned. “You’re just taking her?”

“Yep.” That was all Nylah said as she dragged Harper away.

Liam stepped closer. “Can you tell how excited she’s been to meet Harper?”

“Should I be worried?” Hell, why was he even asking? His twin had a million embarrassing stories at her disposal.

“Yes,” Eastern answered for Liam. “Be very worried.”
