“I’m sure you and I will be okay in time, but I need space from you for a while. You crossed a line.”

Then I turn to my husband. “Please, take me home. I’m tired.”

Without a word, he picks me up bridal style and takes me to the car. He puts me down, but instead of helping me inside, he pulls out a gun from his waistband. He lifts his pant leg up and retrieves another, followed by another one in a holster under his shirt.

“I was safe.” His words do not reassure me.

“None of that would stop a bullet from hitting you. You’re not invincible.” I look up and cup his face. “You promised me forever, and I want it. I love you, and no one is going to use you on my watch.”

He pulls me into his body and holds me tight. Then he rubs his hardness on me. “Oh,” I say with a giggle. “We are in public.”

“I’ve never had anyone defend me like you just did, and it turned me on.” He takes my hand and puts it on his bulge.

“I’ll always defend you. And let’s go home, and I’ll take care of that, even though I’m really pissed off at you.”

He cups my cheeks and says, “Please, don’t be angry. It was bad over there. Micah was screaming, and the house was thick with cigarette smoke. Not a good place for Tim.”

"Why didn't you tell me she tried to keep us apart when I was in the hospital?"

"I didn't tell you because it's irrelevant. No one was going to keep me away from you."

He kisses me, and despite being on the public street, the kiss turns passionate. Neither of us wants it to end. He lifts me, and I wrap my legs around him. We stay like that and kiss until the sound of voices stops us.

“Your sister is in there acting all hysterical,” Selene says. I notice that she gives Preacher the side eye. He stands close to her, and she moves back. She looks at his arm and scrunches her face. I know she disapproves of the large cross tattooed on him.

“Yeah, I gotta go,” Cori says while she looks at her phone. She rolls her eyes and gives the phone the middle finger. “I’ll drop you off, Selene. Let’s go.”

“I thought you were coming over to watch a movie with me,” Selene says. “Where have you been spending all your time?”

“I can watch a movie with you,” Preacher volunteers.

Selene eyes the tattoo again and flares her nostrils. “No,” is all she says. Then she adds, “I have a boyfriend.”

“And?” Preacher moves closer to Selene.

“Um, I’ll come by tomorrow,” Cori volunteers.

Chapter 70

Rip

When I slide my hand up her smooth thigh, she moans and straddles me. Her long skirt spreads around us like a blanket. I take both her hands, put them behind her back, and hold them together.

“I got you, Mrs. King.” My words are but a whisper above her lips.

“You sure do. Getting me was the best thing that ever happened to you.”

After dropping her hands, I quickly unbutton my pants and pull out my dick. I lift her high enough so she aligns with my tip. She slides down slowly.

She’s been wanting me to take her rough and hard, but I haven’t been able to do that. Since she’s been home, I’ve been handling her with kid gloves, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Sitting back, I let her take charge. She throws her head back and calls my name while she bounces on top of me. It doesn’ttake long for her to come. It never takes her long when she’s on top.

“I want to finish you with my mouth,” she says once she’s done convulsing, but it’s already too late. My eyes roll to the back of my head, and I unload inside of her. “Dammit, my king.”

I lift her off my lap, and she lies on the couch, putting her legs on my lap. My phone alerts me that someone is at the gate. I sigh when I see her parents getting out of her father’s car.

“Your parents,” I say.
