Stunned, I stare at him.

He wraps the seatbelt around me. “I was wrong to take over your schedule, but you’ve had commitments every day for the last four weeks. I want you to rest, but I should have talked to you about it first.”

“I should probably get some rest.”

He leans down so he’s looking straight into my eyes. “So you’ll go? And before you answer, I want you to know thatyou’re calling the shots, London. You want me to reschedule everything, I’ll do it. You want me to take you home, I’ll do it. It’s up to you.”

I put my hand to his cheek. “I want to go with you,” I tell him honestly, blinking. “And I appreciate that you planned some fun things for us to do, but I hope we get some time with the two of us.”

He leans his forehead against mine. “I only booked one room.”

I pull back and can’t hide my excitement. “Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go.”

He laughs and leans in, staring at my lips. “I wanna kiss you again.”

I shake my head. “Oh, Dillon, don’t you know? You can kiss me anytime you want.”

He takes full advantage of my admission. He presses his lips to mine, and his kiss takes my breath away. This is different than our first kiss. This time it’s like he’s putting all his emotions, everything he’s feeling into it, and I practically pull him into the truck on top of me.

I can’t hold back my moan, and he pulls back. “We should go.”

I reluctantly release him, and he adjusts himself before shutting the door and walking around to the driver’s side of the truck.

As soon as he gets in and starts the vehicle, he’s reaching for me. His hand wraps around mine, and we ride like this the three hours to North Carolina.

CHAPTER 8

DILLON

I point at her plate still full with her dinner. “You’re not eating.”

She shrugs and pushes her mashed potatoes around.

I almost tell her she needs to eat, but I feel like I need to take it easy on her. There’s a part of me that feels like I’m taking advantage of her. I hope she knows that I really do love her, but I’m ready to spend the rest of my life convincing her.

I set my fork down next to my plate. We’ve already checked into the hotel room, but I knew I couldn’t be in that small hotel room with her alone for long without touching her, so as soon as we set down our bags, I insisted we come down to the restaurant in the lobby to eat. “What do you want to do tonight? We could go to a show… or maybe walk around town… or?—”

She cuts me off by reaching across the table and putting her hand on mine. “Dillon.”

I swallow hard. “Yeah?”

She tilts her head, looking at me. “You really want to know what I want to do?”

The way her eyes darken, I have an idea. But I still need to hear the words from her. “Yes.”

She curls her hand around mine. “I want to go back to the room, get undressed, and?—”

I hold my hand up to the waiter. “Check, please?”

I stare at London, barely able to contain myself. The need to have her is overwhelming. The server brings the check, and I sign my name, charging it to the room.

As soon as I’m done, I stand up and hold my hand out to her. Instantly, she rises with a huge smile on her face.

I barely get us to the elevator before I have my arms wrapped around her, pulling her body flush against mine. Our mouths meet, and as we kiss, I lift her into my arms. Her legs go around my waist. Thankfully we only have to go one floor up, and when the doors open, there isn’t anyone in the hallway. I stomp to our room, fumble to get the key card out of my pocket, and when I finally get the door open, I let it slam behind us.

I don’t want to put her down. “Lock the door, honey.”

She locks it, and then I carry her into the room and put her feet down on the floor next to the bed.
