“I’ve tried.” She pulls her feet from Haidyn’s lap and sits up. “Can’t keep anything down.”
“I called Devin?—”
“There’s nothing he can do, Haidyn,” Charlotte interrupts him. “It just has to pass.”
Saint and Ashtyn board next, and she remains quiet as they take the seats up front. Then the last passenger walks on.
I tap Eve’s thigh to let her know I’m getting up before I head to the front of the jet, and Haidyn follows.
“Hey, man.” Haidyn gives Hooke a handshake hug. And I do the same before Saint.
“Sweetheart?” Saint turns to Ashtyn.
“Hmm?” She looks up at him from her cell. She was in the middle of typing away, and I’m sure it was Jasmine. Since she’s in Las Vegas, I bet Ashtyn’s already told her that she’s coming.
“Will you sit in the back with the girls? I need to go over business with the guys.”
“Sure.” She gets up and makes her way to the back couch and plops down next to Eve. Charlotte has already stretched out, taking up her whole couch. Eve pulls her shades out of her purse and places them on before picking up the Hermès blanket draped across the back of the couch and pulling it up over her. A clear sign she plans on ignoring Ashtyn for the duration of the flight.
“Are they expecting us?” Hooke begins.
Haidyn nods. “Yes. We’ll go to Kingdom first, get the girls settled into the room. Then the Kings are going to take us to the Airport.”
“Eve?” I push her sunglasses to the top of her head as her heavy eyelids flutter open. “We’re here.”
Stretching, I pull the blanket off her and toss it to the side, then take her hand to help her up. We exit the jet and get into one of several waiting cars while the others get into their own.
“I don’t know why I’m so tired.” She yawns, dropping her head onto my shoulder.
I chuckle. “I do.”
She slaps my chest playfully. We ride the short distance down the Strip and pull up to the back of Kingdom.
When we enter the hotel and casino, the Kings are already waiting to escort us to the Royal Floor fifty stories up.
Ashtyn knows them, so they say their hellos while Haidyn introduces them to Charlotte. Then it’s my turn. Eve is shaking Titan’s hand when I introduce her to the next. “Eve, this is Cross.”
She meets his stare, and he looks her up and down, opening his mouth. “It’s nice to meet you.” She reaches out to shake his hand before he can get out what he was going to say, and I wonder what the fuck that was about.
Eve and I haven’t had the talk about how she was here for four years chasing Ashtyn for Adam, but now I think it’s time to have it. Do the Kings know her? Was she working for them here at Kingdom or at Glass?
The thought of her being a Queen makes me want to take a belt to her ass and a knife to every unlucky guy who paid to sleep with her. But that can’t be my girl. No. Eve didn’t sleep around, so a Queen is out of the question. But she slept with Adam. It’s not like I’m the only guy she’s ever fucked.
“This will be your room for however long you need to stay.” Titan turns to look at the girls as we enter the Royal Suite. “It has four suites, its own butler, and twenty-four seven private staff. A sauna, movie room, and gym. Just press one on the phone, and someone will get you whatever you need.”
“Thanks,” they all say in unison.
Our bags are brought up, and we all make our way to our rooms. “I have to go,” I tell Eve when she opens the sliding glass door and steps out onto a balcony.
“Okay.” She doesn’t bother turning around to look at me.
I wrap my arms around her from behind and kiss her hair, inhaling the strawberry scent. “I’ll make it up to you.”
She spins in my arms and wraps hers around my neck. “We’ll see if you keep your promises.”
