It wasn’t a question, angel.

“Same.” I finally answer Ashtyn.

“Can we all go for a ride later?”

Haidyn finally speaks to her while his eyes remain on his computer. “Charlotte and I have plans.”

Saint looks at her. “Sweetheart, you’re pregnant. I’m not putting you on the back of my bike.”

“I trust you.” She frowns.

He shakes his head. “Too many things can happen that I can’t control.”

Even when we had our chosens, Ashtyn was still ours. Saint let us have a piece whenever we wanted. I wouldn’t say he regrets that, but we quit after they got married. He made her an honest woman, and I wanted nothing to do with her sexually after.

She turns and plops down on the couch, nibbling on her bottom lip. She looks bored and confused. She went from life on the run to being kept here at Carnage like a prisoner.

“Why don’t you go see what Charlotte is up to?” Saint offers. “Maybe have a girls’ day.”

“She just left,” Ashtyn answers, and I watch Haidyn to see if he reacts. He doesn’t. I’m surprised he let her leave without him with everything that has been going on around here and the women who have turned up dead. “She went to spend the day with Blakely. They invited me, but I thought I’d let them have some alone time.” Ashtyn shrugs. “They have a lot to talk about.”

Yes. They just recently found out that they are related. Who knew thetwo fucked-up women in our world are twins? Guess we should have seen that one coming.

“I called Elli, but she has plans with Sin today. She said she’ll be here tomorrow, though.”

Sitting up straighter, I ask, “Are Devin and Gavin delivering the babies?” Sin hasn’t mentioned it.

She shakes her head. “No. They’ve got another week.”

Irespond to Kashton, but there’s a smile on my face. I like that no matter how much I push him away, he doesn’t let me get far.

I enter Bill’s office, wondering why the hell he’s got me coming in for the day. I’m sure it’s something he could have called me about.

He sits behind his desk, reading over paperwork, and removes his glasses when he looks up to see me enter. “Hello, Eve.” He smiles.

“What do you need to say that couldn’t be said with a phone call?” I demand, and the smile drops off his face. This is going to piss me off.

He sighs heavily and gestures for me to have a seat, but I cross my arms over my chest.

“Kashton came to me the night after the reception,” he begins.

“What did he want?” I ask, getting a bad feeling.

I’m not surprised, really. I told him a lot about myself, and I’m sure he wanted to verify it. Make sure I wasn’t blowing smoke up their asses. Bill’s probably mad I ratted out Evan as his son. He doesn’t claim him. Some people just can’t be helped, and Evan is one of them. Bill knows that no matter what he does or says, Evan will never change. I think a part of Bill really loves Sin’s mother, and he would never bring Evan into his life to jeopardize their marriage or her life.

“He asked me to pull some strings.”

I step forward. “Strings for what?”

“He wants to make you his Lady.”

No. This can’t be right. “I can’t… They won’t…” We just had this conversation in his bathtub. Why didn’t he mention it to me then? That would have been the perfect time to say “Hey, by the way, I asked your father to pull some strings with the Lords so I can marry you.”
