“He’s right about that. Madison would not be pleased with an audience. Come, let’s get to the club. Donny has some information he wants to share with everyone.”
The three men climbed into the awaiting SUV and made their way into downtown Vegas.
“Wow, this place is everything I read about.”
“Oh, that’s right. It’s your first time here, isn’t it?” Massimo smiled at Matias. “I hate that it’s under these circumstances.”
“Me too.”
The SUV pulled into an alleyway behind a formidable building. Matias was in awe at the lights and sounds he heard, but nothing could take his mind off Katya. Where was she? Was she hurt? His anger bubbled beneath his skin, making his body tingle with rage.
“We’re here.” Massimo pushed open the door and got out.
Matias and Bastian slid from the car, stepping out onto the pavement. The back door burst open and Donny stood there with his arms folded across his chest.
“I have news.”
“I hope it’s where Katya is, I am close to losing my shit.”
“Not only where she is, but where Dmitri is hiding the Lithium. I have some men on the way over to the storage unit now. You should have the materials back in your possession within the hour.”
Massimo followed his trusted friend inside, Matias and Bastian close behind.
“Do you really think Dmitri will let them take it so easily?”
“My men include The Lama. He won’t let anyone live that gets in their way.”
“What the fuck? You sent Vincenzo with them?” Massimo slammed his fist to the desk.
“He volunteered. You knew digging into his past would trigger this side of him, Massimo. It was a matter of time before The Lama was reborn.”
“Who’s at the restaurant?”
“Riley is covering for him. She thinks he is out handling a family matter related to Antonio’s recovery.”
“And where are we on her? There is something about his new hire I don’t trust.”
“Clean as a whistle according to Alec.”
“I don’t buy it, but I don’t have time to deal with her right now. What about Katya? Where is she?”
“We believe she is being held on Dmitri’s estate.”
“And where is that?” Matias scanned the faces in the office.
“We don’t know for sure. Dmitri isn’t known as the Prizrak for nothing. His place is in the wind.”
“We need to find her. Once the lithium is back in our possession, he’ll kill her. Do you understand that? He’ll kill Katya.”
“Matty.” Bastian pressed his hand to his brother’s shoulder. “We will get her. We’re too close not to find her. Have some faith.”
Matias covered his brother’s hand with his and sighed. “What will I do if he has hurt her? I will have failed her, Bastian.”
“Stop,” Massimo barked. “We will get her back and cross that bridge when it happens. For now, focus your rage at the cause.”
“I want to kill them both. Jorge, then Dmitri. I want their heads.”
Somethingwashappening.Katyacould hear the men screaming downstairs as their voices carried up the stairs. Sitting on her bed, she listened as footsteps hurried up the steps. She wasn’t at all shocked when her door burst open and an enraged Jorge stood at the threshold.
