And right now, all I wanted to do was put a baby in this woman.

It must have been all the baby talk in the air that was making me feel that way, because it was decidedly out of character for me.

She gasped as she felt my hands on her and glanced at me over her shoulder, a tiny smile on her lips.

“You scared the living shit out of me, Knox.”

“Who else would be sneaking up to cop a feel of your gorgeous hips? Do I have some competition I should be worried about?”

Gwen laughed. “No one’s ever described them that way before. What are you doing? Why are you feeling so sassy?”

I drifted my hands down to the outer edges of her thighs and squeezed the extra softness she had there. “E and E have left the premises. They’re going to be gone for thirty minutes. We could…”

She gasped, and her mouth dropped open. “What part ofone-night stand don’t you understand? We can’t just make a habit of this.”

“Why not?” I asked her earnestly, meeting her eyes with a serious intent in mine.

Gwen flushed and looked away, turning back to her laundry. “Knox, you’re going to get me all confused if you act this way.”

She bent forward to pull another piece from the bottom of the machine, and I took the opportunity to step in and snuggle myself right against her ass.

She gasped again, but didn’t tell me to stop. “Are you hard right now?”

She knew I was. She couldfeelme.

I pulsed my hips lightly, sliding my erection against her ass. With a throaty growl, I told her, “Half an hour’s alongtime.”

Chapter 13

Gwen

There was only one good response, and it wasno.

But that word failed to form on my lips.

I’d fallen under this man’s spell, and I was powerless to stop him. If he wanted me, I wouldalwayssay yes.

My heart clenched in on itself.

Knowing that this was just sex hurt me to the core of my being. I wanted so much more with him.

But isn’t that what happened to women? They fall for a man who says he doesn’t want to get attached, then hope he changes his mind?

Iknewbetter, but none of that mattered right now.

“Where did they go?” I asked as I shifted my hips, letting him know without words that my answer was yes.

“The grocery store. Some kind of diaper sale.”

I calculated the time it would take to get there and back. Plus loading up the cart with diapers. It would be quicker than a normal grocery trip. And it only took five minutes to get to Herman’s.

“When did they leave?”

He chuckled and gripped my hips tighter, sliding his finger along the waistband of my sweatpants. “Literally one minute ago. I came right in.”

I wish I was dressed better than this.

No one wants to get sexy with their crush in the middle of laundry day. I was wearing a pair of faded loose sweatpants and an old button-down flannel I’d claimed from my dad’s closet.
