“You guys didn’t have to do this,” I say, opening the envelope.

I pull the card out and laugh at what I read. “A weekend away for two at Hotel Blu with couple massages and a promise to babysit.”

“Trust me, after the baby comes, you’re going to need it,” Peyton says with a laugh.

“I love this!” I hug Peyton. “This is perfect.”

“Hell yeah,” Matteo says, giving his brother and then Peyton a hug.

“Here’s my gift,” Bri says. “It’s not as creative.” She side-eyes Peyton, who sticks her tongue out at her playfully.

I open the envelope, and inside is a certificate of stocks. “What is this?” I ask.

“It’s your baby’s first investment. I bought some stocks, and once she’s born, I’ll transfer it into her name. I want her to have something of her own so she never feels like she’s dependent on anyone,” Bri says, emotion laced in every word. She clears her throat and then adds, “And every year, for her birthday and holidays, I’m going to add to it.”

“Bri,” I breathe out, “this is so thoughtful. Thank you.”

“Yeah,” Peyton agrees. “You just got the twins a stroller.”

Bri laughs. “I actually got them each one as well.” She pulls the envelopes out of her purse. “One for each of the twins and one for Damien. I know their parents are rich, but …”

“I get it,” I say, pulling her in for a hug. “Thank you.”

“Okay, enough of that,” Bri says when she steps back. “I think it’s time for some?—”

Her words are cut off when a gentleman steps into the restaurant. He’s dressed in a sharp gray business suit that somehow contradicts his messy brown hair and stubbled jaw.

Immediately, the guards are on him, blocking his entry, but that doesn’t seem to sway him as his golden-brown eyes lock on Bri.

“Sorry, the restaurant is closed,” Ian says.

“Actually, I’m here for the baby shower,” he says, his voicesmooth and confident. “Even brought a gift.” He holds up a small wrapped package and smirks.

“And you are?” Dominick asks.

“Kane Morgan.” He tries to step past the guards, but they stop him, so he sighs and stays where he is when he says, “I believe you all are responsible for killing the majority of my family.”

“Fuck,” my brother hisses. “I knew I recognized the name.” He steps forward. “You’re Kane Morgan, owner of Morgan Enterprises.”

“The one and only.” Kane grins.

“And what the fuck do you think you’re doing here?” Matteo asks, not sounding at all shocked at who this man is or what he accused them of. “You thought you’d come in here and what? Take us out in the middle of a restaurant that’s under our protection with our guards standing right here?”

Kane laughs, and the sound sends a chill straight up my spine.

“That’s not the kind of revenge I’m interested in. The best kind of revenge is success.” He unbuttons and opens his suit jacket. “Feel free to check me. I’m not armed.” He tosses the gift to Matteo. “For my niece or nephew.” He glances at me. “Congrats, by the way. It’s a shame my brother isn’t here to watch his child grow up.”

My brother …

Where have I heard that before?

And then it hits me …

“My brother might not think this is the way to get revenge, but I happen to disagree.”

I was so distraught from Enrique kidnapping me for a second time that I didn’t even think about what he was implying at the time.

Oh my God. He’s Enrique’s brother.
