That was another little joke between us, like the pinching thing, ever since he informed me on our first date that I’d be screaming out those words.
Which I had.
Bronson could get me to do pretty much any damn thing he wanted.
Chapter Thirty-Two
BRONSON
A baby.
I paced back and forth in the living room.
Visions of Lake round with my child flashed through my mind.
I couldn’t handle it. I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed Lyric.
“Hey, dude, what’s up?” he asked as he answered.
“We’re going to have a baby,” I blurted, sounding almost hysterical.
Once the words were out, I realized I sounded a little crazy. I was excited, nervous, happy, and couldn’t believe how things had changed for me.
“Wow, Lake’s pregnant?”
I stopped making tracks across the floor. “Umm, no, but we decided we wanted to try to have a baby,” I told him.
Lyric’s deep chuckle came through the line. “That’s awesome, man. Who broached the subject first?”
Now it was my turn to laugh.
“Stormi requested a baby brother be her only Christmas present in her letter to Santa.”
My friend roared with laughter and I joined him.
“Thank gosh for Stormi,” he said when he settled down.
Yeah,I thought.Thank gosh for Stormi.
My daughter was the light of my life, just like her mother.
And maybe before long we’d be adding to our little family.
Chapter Thirty-Three
LAKE
“A doll?”Stormi stared at her gift with much confusion.
Since the day we read her letter to Santa, Bronson and I had been working to make her wish come true every chance we got.
It wasn’t a hardship by any means.
I glanced at my husband and we shared a small smile. We wanted to give Stormi what she so dearly wanted as much as she wanted it. We just needed a little more time since it hadn’t even been a full month since we threw out the condoms.
My face heated as the memory of the first time Bronson entered me bare came to the forefront of my mind. With my eyes still on his, he chuckled and winked. The man always knew when I had sex in the brain.
