Although some food was brought into my room soon after the boss guy left, I wasn’t about to put anything they gave me into my mouth. I was afraid they would drug me and I wouldn’t have my wits about me if they attempted to take advantage of me.
The downfall to that was I didn’t have much energy after having a baby, not eating recently, and the physical and mental exhaustion of being abducted. But it was having to leave my baby and Paxton that was really taking a toll on me. My stomach growled again as I looked at the plate holding some sort of sandwich thrown together and a pile of chips, but I wouldn’t cave.
I felt like I was fading and laid down on the bed letting the sluggishness take over. I’d told myself I wouldn’t cry, but my baby was in the hospital without me, and I didn’t even know if she was okay. Before I could stop them, sobs shook my body. I curled myself into a ball, fighting to physically hold myself together, and cried myself to sleep.
When I woke, the room was almost dark and my heart sank further. Night was falling and Pax hadn’t found me. I heard the lock click and my body went on alert. I’d been left alone all day, but I didn’t think I’d be lucky enough for things to stay that way.
Nope. Not lucky at all.
Standing in the doorway, light filtering in behind him, was a bear of a man. I hadn’t seen him before and I wished he would magically disappear right then.
“You’re right where I want you, sweet thing.” The gruff voice made me cringe and nausea filled my stomach.
I leaped off the bed as he came into the room, stalking toward me with a purpose that scared the daylights out of me. I tried scrambling over the bed to get farther away, but he seemed to take up the whole room, and had a hold of me right away.
“It’s time to get started. No use fighting something you won’t ever win, baby.”
No! No! No! He can’t call me that!
I shivered in disgust and pushed with all my might against his barrel-sized chest, but he grabbed my hips in his tight grip and reeled me in like a floundering fish until I was smashed up against his body. The ripe odor of sweat repulsed me and I gagged, nearly puking on the spot.
Fight!
Eyeing the door that the man didn’t close, I knew it was time to make my move. He leaned back a little, not letting go of my body and tried bringing his mouth to mine. Sheer panic kicked in and on instinct, I raised my arms that were left free and gouged both his eyes with my thumbs. He bellowed in pain and rage, dropping to his knees with a thud. I bolted for the door.
I should have known there wouldn’t just be one asshole.
Another man appeared, stopping me from making it any farther than the threshold. With both hands on my upper arms, he lifted me up as if I was weightless and then tossed me backward onto the ground, causing all the oxygen to leave my lungs as my back slammed against the floor, right before my head hit the wooden planks.
I cried out, feeling pain in every inch of my body. I couldn’t take much more. After having just given birth and then having been kidnapped, I’d been under a lot of physical and emotional stress. I didn’t have much fight left, but I needed to dig deep and find a way because the man was on top of me in a second, ripping open my dress, and exposing me to his sinister stare.
When his gaze landed on the ugly underwear I wore, he yelled, “What the fuck?”
I couldn’t help myself, even if I paid the price for my outburst that slipped free. “I just had a fucking baby, asshole!”
I was pissed, scared, and hoped the thought of me just having a child, along with the unattractive sight of me, might cause him to be grossed out enough to change his mind about what I believed he intended to do.
That only deterred him for a second and then he shrugged.
“Looks like you need to learn things the hard way,” the man growled.
Adrenaline pumping through my veins, I bucked my body, tried clawing at him, but couldn’t move him from where he straddled my hips, almost naked. With each second my body grew weaker and my energy began to wane.
“You’re a feisty one. That will work to our advantage when it’s time to deposit you to your new home.”
I wasn’t feeling that feisty but had been in survival mode. Nothing was working and I didn’t know what to do so I screamed at the top of my lungs, praying someone would hear me. All I heard was the other man I’d hurt, stumbling to his feet and knew if they both worked at me that I would die.
The one pinning me down, grabbed my bra and ripped it from my body, leaving my breasts exposed to his viewing. But it wasn’t my boobs he was looking at, it was the necklace that flew out and landed on the floor next to us with a clank.
“What the fuck is this you stupid bitch?” he yelled, slapping me with a tremendous amount of force across my face.
One of my worst fears immediately set in—they would break the necklace and Paxton might not find me.
“It’s nothing, just a necklace,” I said, my lips trembling as I tried to grab for the one item that could help me.
“Fucking lying whore,” he spat as he took hold of my arm and slammed it against the floor.
“The bitch ismine,” the first guy said, rounding the bed toward us.
