“One guy, gun, not a care in the world, and wasn’t even wearing a mask,” the big man rattled off.
No mask.
I scrubbed my hands over my face, then raked them through my hair before clasping them behind my neck. I squeezed tight as fear gripped my body. They had always worn a mask, but all of a sudden they didn’t mind being seen.
That screamed bad news and from the looks on all the guys’ faces, they knew it too.
“Don’t go there in your head,” Lyric said.
I dropped my hands to my side, my fingers curling into my palms, making tight fists. My muscles tensed, rage grabbing me in its grasp.
“You know as well as I do that if they don’t care that they were seen, it doesn’t bode well for what their plans are.” A growl erupted from the depths of my soul. “They aren’t hiding their identities and are bold as fuck now.”
“We’re going to get her back,” Bronson said.
Moving across the room, I grabbed the map one of the guys brought in. The blinking light on my app had stopped. Right on the mountain in the middle of a bunch of trees.
My jaw clenched, threatening to shatter my back teeth. “Fuck, I need a helicopter. The only way into that area without being detected is to parachute in.”
A hand landed on my shoulder in reassurance. “I’ll get you what you need,” Gyth told me. “But you can’t go in alone.” He gave me a squeeze and when I looked at him, his eyes screamed there would be no arguing the subject.
Another hand slapped my back as Gyth dropped his. “He won’t be alone. I’m going,” Bronson stated. My gaze whipped to him and he nodded.
I nodded back.
My eyes ping-ponged as the fellows all had their say.
“Me too,” Lyric chimed in, grabbing my arm and pulling me in for a hard hug.
I was yanked from Lyric, Rowan dragging me in front of him. “No way am I staying behind, I’m also in.” He slapped both palms on my face. “We are going to get those fuckers and bring her back!” he said before dropping hands to his side.
“Count me in,” Bodie called out, pulling my attention in his direction. “You are my brother in more ways than one and I got you man.” I found myself being pulled into another hug, his strong hand hitting me a couple times on the back.
They may not have had the skills I had when it came to jumping, but they were skilled men. They were willing to do whatever it took to help me and Capri. These guys had families, but they also had my back and that meant the world.
My heart sank as a thought took hold.
Italia.
What if she lost both her parents?
“Bodie, I need you here. If something happens to me and Capri—” I swallowed around the lump in my throat, tears threatening to fall. “I know security is with her, but they’re not who I trust with my daughter’s life. I need you and Gemma to watch over my baby girl and be here, okay?”
“You got it,” he said, planting his hand on my shoulder and giving it a squeeze.
“Kace will go, I just texted him.” Braxton was holding up his phone and shaking it in my direction. “Me, Gyth, Landon, and Bodie will stay with the girls, Italia, and be on the mics with you guys. We will all be there in some form, you’re not alone, Paxton.”
I clapped my hands together. “Let's get this plan in motion.”
The security guards had listened intently as all of us spoke. They’d both mentioned they had families of their own and would do anything to protect them, so they understood needing to keep things hush, hush for now until we got to Capri.
As for the nurses, they had gone to take care of the patients so they didn’t really have a clue what we were planning, but the one that had been taking care of Capri, promised to make sure Italia was well taken care of.
Just before we left the hospital to gear up and take action, I went down to see my sweet baby girl. I stood there staring at her and whispered to her a promise.
“Daddy is going to do everything he can to bring your mommy back to you, princess. You get better and we will see you soon.”
I softly rubbed a knuckle down the side of her smooth cheek, then leaned over and kissed her forehead. When she blinked up at me, opening her innocent eyes, tears pooled at the edges of my lids.
