The murderer grabbed my wrist for a second time and dragged me to the door. He looked out and must have not seen anyone because he kept pulling me right through the hall to the stairwell. It was like the beach hotel all over again, but this time, Paxton was nowhere around.
And just like that, with a gun to my back, he led me down five flights of stairs to the dark basement garage where a car was waiting for us.
With force, he opened the door and shoved me into the backseat where another guy was waiting. My gaze landed on his and all the oxygen whooshed from my lungs.
The man may not have been as big, but his eyes were even colder, almost dead inside, and yet you could still see the anger in their depths. He also had an air about him that screamed that he was in charge.
Andhewantedme.

The silence was terrifying.
The evil presence swirling around the car sent a shiver up my spine.
As my car door shut and the vehicle started moving after my captor got in the front passenger seat, my heart sank.
Any hope of seeing Paxton and Italia again seemed to fly out the window faster than the car sped out of the hospital parking garage, further and further away from my family.
Pulling in a deep breath, I tried to reassure myself that my husband would find me. That my baby would be okay. And that I would be reunited with them one day.
Please find me, Paxton.
“Where is my money, Mrs. Hatfield?”
The last name made me sick to my stomach. If they’d been watching me then the man must know that wasn’t my name.
“That is not my name,” I said through gritted teeth. “And I don’t have your money.”
A sharp pain burst through my cheek as the man backhanded me across my face. Tears stung my eyes and the moisture clouded my vision.
“I’m not a man you want to fuck with,” he spat. “But my boss..” the man paused for dramatic effect and then his eyes darkened to an evil black. “He will not hesitate to do anything necessary to get whatever it is that he wants.”
“I had nothing to do with my husband and I don’t have a clue what he did with your money,” I said quietly as I held my cheek in the palm of my hand.
He clucked his tongue a few times and his jaw ticked in annoyance. “We’ll see about that. But if you don’t get me the information I need, we will go to plan B.”
I saw his hand move, but I didn’t react in time. I felt a sharp prick as something sunk into my neck. Moving my hand from my cheek, I gripped my neck and looked at the devil next to me.
Sitting there stunned for a minute not knowing what exactly had happened, my eyes became unfocused and my body started to feel weighed down.
“What’s plan B?” I slurred.
A mechanical laugh echoed through the car, as my head swam with confusion.
“You’ll see soon enough. If you can’t lead me to the money, you will still get me my money one way or another.”
My mouth wouldn’t move right and I struggled to get all the words out. “I don’t…”
Darkness seeped in, my eyes rolled and everything went black.
ChapterThirty-Six
PAXTON
Right back turnedinto more like thirty minutes.
When I’d gotten down to see my little angel, it was hard to take my eyes off her or leave her. She mesmerized me just like her mother did. I took in her dark hair, angelic face, tiny button nose, and bow shaped lips. And when she opened her eyes, the same blue as mine stared back at me. My precious girl already had me wrapped around her finger.
