“You taste so damn good, sweetheart,” he murmured against my mouth before pulling back.

I’m not sure what possessed me to be so bold but I replied, “Need more.” I placed my hands behind his neck and yanked him back in, locking my lips with his once more.

I was so engrossed in the kiss, the sounds of the bell out-front almost didn’t register in my brain. We hadn’t opened yet, the door was still locked, but someone was ringing the one outside to get my attention.

Paxton groaned as we pulled away from each other. When he stepped back my eyes immediately seemed to navigate to the impressive bulge in his jeans and my eyes bugged out.

When I glanced up and met his gaze, he had a sexy smirk on his face. “See what you do to me.”

He closed his eyes then, maybe willing his package to behave. I couldn’t help but giggle.

“Your sexy little giggles are not helping matters, darlin’.”

I couldn’t help it, another giggle slipped free and he grumbled, “Tease.” The bell rang again and he opened his eyes. Mine went to his crotch.

I tilted my head. “It’s a little better,” I said, pressing my hand to my mouth to not allow anymore laughter to spring free.

“It will have to do. You are an evil woman and this isn’t over.” He winked before walking away, leaving me there with a grin on my face that I was sure stayed in place the remainder of the day.

I didn’t knowif I was ready to relive the past again.

The day at the shop had gone great but now all the ladies had come to my condo so I could spill my guts to them.

“Everyone is waiting for you out in the living room,” Paxton said as he came up behind me in the bathroom.

The doors were all open so he knew he could come in. He always knocked if I had them shut, being considerate and letting me have my privacy. While it had only been three days with him close by me we seemed to be in sync.

I know there may be some questions about that but I didn’t have a good answer. All I knew is it felt right so I wasn’t questioning it when there was so much other shit to question in my life.

When he placed his hands on my hips and lay his head on my shoulder, I sighed. I adored my friends but at that moment I would be content to end the day with just Paxton. How crazy was that when I’d thought for so long I would never allow another man to get close to me?

In the six months I’ve known him, but honestly it was in the last three days, he broke down my walls and made my future look not so bleak.

In fact, he made it look full of possibilities I never imagined.

“Do you need to do this another time?” he asked. “I can tell them you’re not ready.”

I wouldn’t do that to them. The ladies deserved more from me and needed to know what being friends with me meant. And what they were getting themselves into even more now than before.

As I turned to face him, his hands slid along with my movement so they were still on my hips when I was looking him in the eyes.

“Thank you, but I need to do this.”

He nodded and kept his gaze on me, waiting as if he knew I had more to say.

“Are you staying here?” I hated that my tone sounded desperate but that was a bit how I felt.

“Rowan and I are going to go to my place with his kids while you girls have your talk, but I’ll be right down the hall.” His thumbs rubbed back and forth on my sides. “I’m a second away if you need anything and I will be back if you want me to when—”

“I do want you to,” I rushed to say, cutting off the rest of his words. “But this is crazy right? Us staying at the same place? What will people say?”

Paxton moved his right hand to the back of my neck and pulled me in closer. “Nothing matters but what we think. If it’s crazy, then crazy feels right.”

That was what I’d thought moments before. It feltright.

“Please come back,” I whispered.
