He didn’t wait another second before he sealed his lips to mine and poured all his love into the kiss.

I was backwhere I belonged.

The few nights before had been extremely difficult. As hard as I’d tried to stay positive, there were a few times the thought that I may never find myself in bed with Lyric wrapped around me had crept in.

He may not be holding me in his arms at that moment because a sleeping Autumn was curled up between us, but it felt unbelievable. She hadn’t wanted to let me out of her sight much throughout the evening and when she asked to sleep with me there was no way I would say no.

So, there we were facing one another, Autumn’s back to Lyric, and our hands resting, entwined on her side.

“I think we should adopt her after we are married and give her the parents she wants,” I said quietly so I didn’t wake her.

He gave my hand a light squeeze. “I would love that. But I think we should give her some brothers and sisters too.”

Damn this man. I said no more tears but he was making it hard.

“Just how many did you have in mind?” I laughed, softly.

Lyric gave me a sexy smile.

“As many as you will give me.”

ChapterThirty-Five

LYRIC

We’d made it.

It was three weeks after we got engaged, a warm July day, and I was an hour away from marrying the most remarkable woman in the world.

“Are you nervous?” Gyth asked, coming up beside me where I looked out the window toward the area we would say our vows.

The ladies had outdone themselves. Everything looked spectacular and my mom dove right in to help. I couldn’t wait to see my girl walk toward me and see the look on her face as she did. I also had a surprise for her. My parents were singing as Ruby walked down the aisle instead of the traditional wedding march.

A song forus.

“Nope, not nervous at all,” I answered.

“That’s good to hear because if you got cold feet and tried to run, I'd have to get out my shotgun. And that would be a shame, I kind of like you,” Gramps said.

All the guys roared with laughter.

Bodie, who hadn’t said much, sombered and spoke. “Don’t ever take a single day for granted. Cherish every second you have together.”

Everyone was now quiet and I imagined it was difficult for the man to be there after losing his wife. I’d had two days without Ruby where I thought I might never see her again and been lost. I couldn’t imagine how it would feel to be Bodie and lose a wife tragically and have to come to terms with the fact she was never coming back.

“I will do that. Thanks, man.” I laid my hand on his shoulder hoping to comfort.

“You bet,” he said.

It was then Gramps’s turn to get sentimental. “I want to thank you for being the man you are. I couldn’t ask for someone better for my angel.”

He turned to my dad who stood behind me. “You raised an exceptional young man.”

My dad thanked him and patted me on the back.

“How about a toast?” Kace asked. “A shot all around, except for Jett.”
