My heart already felt like there was a piece missing knowing I’d be away from him. How pitiful was that? But I couldn’t help myself. I was glad he’d be at the house to watch Autumn and the rest of the family.
Lyric grabbed my hips and in one swift move he lifted me up and onto the bathroom counter. Then, he reached over and locked the door. When he was back in front of me a hungry gleam glistened in his eyes.
“How about I give you a little something to remember me by and satisfy you until tomorrow.” Lyric pushed my bare thighs apart and moved between my legs. “Have I told you how sexy you are?”
There I sat in a pair of lace white panties and nothing else. I hadn’t gotten dressed yet and it didn’t look as though that was going to happen right away.
“Yes you have,” I stuttered as desire rushed through me when Lyric slid his finger around the edge of my panties and pulled them to the side.
He rubbed his palm across my sex and crushed his mouth to mine in a deep, mind-blowing kiss. His skilled fingers got to work as our tongues danced with one another’s. And I knew I was yet again going to be late.
But it was worth the teasing that might come my way.

“Wine all around,”Alley called out. “Well, except for you, Brinley.”
Brin rubbed her pregnant stomach and smiled.
I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to grow a miracle inside my body. I’d spoken with Gramps and Jett later in the day after Autumn had jumped in Lyric and my bed. They both agreed that it was okay that she thought of us as her parents, and if one day that was official they would be happy for us all.
“None for me,” Teal called out.
Everyone’s gaze whipped to hers. When she set her hands on her flat belly, we all started screaming.
“I’m so happy,” she said. We all hugged her.
“That’s more wine for the rest of us,” Alley yelled out.
Jurnee, Summer, Capri, and I all cheered. We were missing one, Gemma, and hoped she still showed up. She had called and said she would be late, but she was coming.
Alley handed those of us that were having wine glasses and the other two laughed as they made chocolate milk, saying it was better anyway. I had to admit it did look good and I might just have to have some later.
“Okay, ladies, your dinner is served.” Landon walked in, his little girl in one arm, and a load of Olive Garden bags in the other.
He set them down on the table, gave Alley a kiss we all awed over, and then said he was headed out. Landon was going over to hang with Braxton and stay there for the evening, leaving us big girls alone.
Once he left we all dug into the pasta, salad and breadsticks. Once our stomachs were full, we took our drinks to the front room and all got to the sharing part of the evening. We drank, laughed, and told funny stories.
Rowan checked up on us from time to time and I was a bit jealous that Brinley got to steal kisses when he did.
I missed Lyric, as I’d known I would, but I was having so much fun. And there was so much of the night left to go. I didn’t think anything could put a damper on the evening.
But I was dead wrong.

What in theworld was happening outside?
We all jumped to our feet and scrambled to the window just as Brinley’s phone rang. Rowan was on the line telling her that we all needed to stay inside and keep the door locked.
It sounded like there had been an accident and there was something going on three houses down but it was hard to see from inside.
“We are fine inside and Rowan will take care of everything,” Brinley said.
“And I have the security system armed,” Alley added.
But whatever was going on looked to be a car accident of some sort so us ladies were good right where we were.
