Well, fuck.

ROME
“Fat girls.”
Rage.Rage unlike anything I’ve ever felt before bubbles through my veins as I watch my manager insult the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever fucking seen.
I barely hear the confident response that comes out of her lips as I push back my chair and stomp out of the control room.
I watched my girl follow Loveland to her office and listened to her explain, with confidence, that she can do the job.
And then she was insulted so deplorably, I’d like to put a bullet through Loveland’s brain.
Too bad I don’t kill women.
I could call Carson. He doesn’t mind pulling the trigger if the mark has a pussy.
By the time I get to Loveland’s office, my little firefly is gone, and Loveland is alreadyback to work.
“Get her,” I say, startling her, “and give her the fucking job. She starts tonight. And if youevertalk to someone like that again, I’ll fucking kill you myself.”
Her jaw drops as she stands from her desk.
“Rome—”
“My name issir.Or Mr. Alexander.”
She blinks in confusion.
“Go get her and give her the job.Now.”
“Yes, sir,” she says, her voice full of confusion as she rushes out of the office.Never seen her rush before.“But she’s probably gone by now.”
“Then you’d better find her.”

LULU
Fuck that bitch. We’re living in a world of body positivity, and she has the goddamn nerve to tell me that I’m too fat to pour drinks?
She doesn’t know me or anything about me. I could probably run circles around her. Okay, maybe notrun, because I only run if something’s chasing me, but it’s not like I can’t stand on my feet for an eight-hour shift and pour drinks.
“People suck,” I mutter to myself as I continue walking down the sidewalk, dodging people. I can’t get away from there fast enough.
“Lisa!”
You have got to be fucking kidding me.
“Lisa, wait.”
Yep, that’s her voice. But that’s not my name.
So I ignore her and keep walking.
“Lisa!” I hear her heels working in triple time, andthen she tugs on my arm, spinning me around. “Please, come back to the club.”
