I wasn’t kidding about the deadline I have.Opening my essay, I start to type and try to finish it in time.Coffee helps me muddle through two hours of nonstop research while writing my essay. The knock on the door finally forces me to stop reading things through, double checking till I’m cross-eyed, and force myself to hit send.
With a weary sigh I walk to the door and open it, instantly regretting not checking the peephole.I try to shove the door closed but Cillian gives a forceful shove and it makes me stumble back.
“Now, now, little Quinny, that’s no way to welcome your future husband,” he says in a disapproving tone.
“You’re not my future husband,” I hiss.“And my name is Quinn.Get the hell out or I’ll scream.”
Cillian snorts.“Go ahead and scream, it’ll be good practice for when I pop that little cherry of yours.”
I’m stunned to silence.Pop my cherry?Does he really think I’m a freaking virgin?Shit.I have to focus, and this man needs to go away.
“I have no clue why you’re here, talking bullshit.Whatever happened between you and my father has nothing to do with me.It’s horrifying enough to have lost my brother.”My voice cracks and I have to swallow back a sob at the reminder of my brother.
“Lost your brother,” Cillian echoes and steps closer when he reaches for my face.
I jolt back and he slowly shakes his head when he states, “Micah will be disappointed to hear you pronounced him dead to the world.”
My jaw practically hits the floor.Micah is still alive?Did my father lie?Is Cillian lying? What the hell is going on?
“Your father owes me money, and he’s going to pay one way or another.Your brother is recovering and for now it’s a bit unsure if he can still become one of my fighters.Which causes me to lose more money. You, on the other hand, have something to offer me.”His gaze glides to my breasts and I involuntarily take a step back.
Cillian is around the same age as Fiero, and yet they invoke completely opposite feelings inside my body.Where Fiero makes my body light up with lust, Cillian makes disgust roll through my veins.
“How much money?”I croak.
“Thirty thousand for starters.”A sly smile slides across his face.“Why?Do you have any spare change between those sweet tits of yours?”
“I have the money.”My voice is firm due to the hint of relief of the chance to get out of the position my father put me in.
While it does shoot my future to smithereens, I do have a way to cut Cillian and my father out of my life for good.
I don’t have the money yet and it’s why I add, “At least, I will have it in a few days and can pay you in full then.”
“A few days,” Cillian murmurs.“No, not good enough.Paying back the money past the deadline isn’t an option anymore. You are now collateral.Which means you’re mine, along with the money you will have in a few days.It will cover the debt’s interest.”
My gaze slides to the door when it opens. Two men in suits step inside while Cillian slides out the door.I don’t have time to react when one of the men throws a strong arm around my neck and covers my nose and mouth with his large hand.I try to struggle against him but it’s useless when I feel a sharp pain and then everything starts to fade.
