“It’s Friday, there’s no work, and you’re crashing here for the night. Let it snow all night.” I held out my hand for her coat and hat, hanging them up in the closet. “I’ll go grab the snacks and drinks. You find something to watch.”

“How about a cheesy Christmas romance? My co-workers at the bank talk about them all the time.”

“Sure, that works. Nothing too corny.” I said, before disappearing into the kitchen. As I pulled a bottle of wine from the fridge, my doorbell rang again.

Huh? Who could that be when April is already here?

I rushed to the door, my heart pumping as my brain caught up.Zion. It was Zion.

Sure enough, I opened my door to find Zion on my doorstep.

CHAPTER FOUR

Zion

“I’m sorry, but I can’t wait any longer to do this.” I grabbed the back of her head and pulled her towards me, pressing my mouth to hers. Now that I had a taste, I needed more and there was nothing I wouldn’t do to satisfy my craving.

There in her doorway, the snow falling steadily behind us, I kissed her with all the love I’d held inside for her all these years. It came pouring forth, every stolen glance, moment, chance to make her laugh, all of it, wanting her to feel and know it all.

“Um, what is happening right now?” My sister’s voice shrieked from behind us, followed by a stifled laugh.

“Zion!” Renata said as she backed away. “How could you kiss me like that?”

“Nice try. You know April knows already.” I said to Ren before turning my attention to my sister. “Well, hello to you too, sis.”

“Okay, there is definitely too much going on. Everyone inside! Now!” April said, looking at both Renata and me. I took Ren by the hand and walked us inside, April shutting the door.

“God, Z, you’ve been home less than a full week and you’re already annoying as shit. You know we have our wine night on Fridays. Now you’re coming to steal my girl?”

“Not steal her. Join.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Boundaries, Z. I didn’t think you were going to literally make a move on my best friend so soon after talking to me.”

“I’ve waited long enough.” I crossed my arms.

“Um, Earth to you two! Do you remember me? I’m standing right here!” Renata asked.

“Sorry Ren. Why don’t the three of us talk?” I asked.

“Do you like my brother?” April asked Ren.

Renata glanced at me, then at my sister, then back at me. “Just be honest.”

“I’ve loved him for as long as I can remember, April. I just never told you because I didn’t want it to affect our relationship.”

My sister wrapped her arms around my girl and hugged tight. “Never. I can kind of see how you like him. I mean, he is the male version of me.” April grinned. “Besides, I kind of had an inkling. You two were always making googly eyes at each other. There’s no way you two didn’t know you had crushes on each other.”

“I honestly didn’t.” Renata laughed. “Remember how much he teased me?”

“Duh, because he liked you.” April quipped.

“Look at my two favorite girls laughing. So can I crash wine night?” I teased.

April and Renata looked at each other before April said, “If you promise to wait on us hand and foot. No empty glasses or bowls around here.”

Renata chuckled. “Aw poor Z. We can’t do that to him.”

“Sure, we can.” April chirped.
