“I don’t know. I’m so nervous, and I hope I’m not over or underdressed. It feels like it’s been forever since I been on a date.”
Sitting down next to Kayla, I picked my boot up and put it on. They were the most comfortable boots I had, and I was told to be comfortable.
“As far as how you look, you are cute, sexy, and fine as hell, girl. And I can understand being nervous, but you’ll be fine. Andas Angie would say, maybe you’ll get some dick out of it.” She cackled loudly, making Spencer’s head pop up.
After he realized there was no danger, he put his head back down and went back to sleep. I was grateful that he was a low-energy dog, because I didn’t feel like being outside all the time.
“Thanks. I don’t know about the dick part.”
Although it didn’t seem like a bad idea. Onyx looked like he was packing. Looking the way he looked, and with a name like that, he had to be. His name was strong, and so were his arms if he were able to carry me out of my house like I weighed nothing. I wasn’t big, but still.
The doorbell rang, and Kayla squealed, then ran downstairs. She seemed more excited about the date than I was. I mean, I was excited but still scared.
My heart thumped against my chest as soon as I heard Onyx’s voice. I looked myself over in the mirror, spritzed my favorite perfume, then headed downstairs with Spencer right behind me.
When we made it to the bottom of the steps, I thought Spencer would bark at Onyx since he was a stranger, but instead, he walked right over to him and sniffed him.
“Who do we have here?” Onyx asked as he bent down to pat Spencer, but his eyes were on me, sweeping over my entire body.
“This is Spencer. I just recently got him. Hi.”
Onyx stood to his full height as Spencer went to follow Kayla to the kitchen. More than likely, she was going to give him a treat that he didn’t need.
“Damn. Hi.” Onyx’s eyes perused the length of my body as he closed the short distance between us. “Would it be too much to hug you?”
“No, not at all.”
I inhaled his cologne when he pulled me against his broad chest. He had on jeans, but how close he held me, I could feel hisdick, and damn. That mess I said earlier about not giving it up went out the window. It was soft, so I shouldn’t have felt it the way I did, but it made me curious. I wasn’t opposed to sex on the first date.
“You smell good as fuck,” he whispered against my neck, then kissed it.
Any other time, I would have been turned off by a man kissing my neck on the first date, but I wanted him to do it again.
“Shit, my bad.” He released me and stuck his hands in his pockets. “That was forward as hell.” He nervously chuckled.
“It’s okay.” I blushed and pushed my hair behind my ear.
“You sure? I don’t want to make shit uncomfortable before we even start the date.”
I giggled and closed the small space between us. He took his hands out of his pockets, and I thought he would put them around me, but he didn’t. Onyx looked down at me and licked his lips. If I weren’t still nervous, I would have kissed him.
“It’s perfectly fine.”
He smiled at me and grabbed my hand. Lifting it to his lips, he placed a soft kiss on the back of my hand. “Good to know.” He winked. “Are you ready?”
“Yes.”
I shouted to Kayla that I was leaving, and Onyx and I left the house. After making sure I locked the door, Onyx helped me down the steps and led me over to his truck.
Once he opened the door, he helped me inside, then walked around the front to the other side. I watched him as I buckled myself in. This man was too damn fine for his own good.
When he got into the driver’s seat, he smiled at me. He started the engine, and Jaime Foxx’s voice crooned through the speakers.
“This is the perfect song,” Onyx said as he pulled away from the curb.
“Why is that?” I asked as I slightly turned toward him.
“’Cause I’ve been asking myself if I’m infatuated with you.”
