Tuesday’s head whipped around to look at her son, and she smiled when she saw his little body standing just inside the red box she marked on the floor of the food truck. She was fortunate to have a truck big enough to create a small space for her son. He had recently gotten good at understanding not to wander outside the line. When they got busy, just like they just were, it was dangerous for him to wander around the truck freely.
A food truck definitely wasn’t an ideal place for him to be, but it was really only one day a week—Tuesday’s. Every other day she worked the truck alone or on the weekends with Winter, andher mom helped her out a ton. When Winter wasn’t working her real job, she would help, too, if her mom needed a break.
Tuesday refused to allow a stranger to watch her kid, and she had been lucky enough to work out a schedule where she didn’t need to.
Walking past her mother and toward her son, she reached out for him and scooped him up into her arms. His little chubby self was going to be a big boy when he grew up… just like his damn daddy.
Tuesday shook the thoughts of him from her head. Now wasn’t the time to go down that rabbit hole.
“What’s up, handsome?”
Wallis pointed a chubby finger at his tablet, and Tuesday saw the screen black. Bending, she grabbed it, realizing it was dead.
“We need to plug it up,” she explained grabbing hisCaptain Americabackpack and pulling his charger out. She sat on the floor with him as she plugged the device in and smoothed his curls back as it powered on.
“Mama loves you, big boy.”
“Love you, Mama,” he said in his sweet voice, and she damn near melted.
She kissed the top of his head, looking at Winter. A weird expression was painted on her face.
“Um… Tuesday? You should come here.”
Tuesday’s brows dipped in as she noted the concern in her best friend’s voice.
After making sure Wallis was squared away, she stood up,
“What’s wrong?”
But she didn’t need to hear Winter’s answer because her eyes landed first on Demo, who studied the menu like a test. Next to him was her baby daddy. Her baby boy’s twin.
“Biggie?” she gasped.
His cocky grin turned her on as flashbacks of his juicy lips all over her infiltrated her mind.
“What’s good, Tuesday?”
His deep voice jolted her out of the memory, and she hurriedly walked away from the window and opened the door to exit the truck.
Quickly, she remembered how small she felt in his presence. One night. She had only one night with him, but that night stuck with her for so many more reasons than one.
Grabbing his hand, she tugged him to the side, leaving Demo behind. She heard him chuckling behind her, but there wasn’t anything funny about what she had to say.
“Damn, girl. You missed me or something?”
She stopped and turned around, bumping right into his muscular chest. Tilting her head up, she looked at him with tears in her eyes.
“Where the hell have you been, Wallis? I tried finding you…”
“You wanted the dick that bad?” he asked, licking his lips before smiling down at her.
She shook her head.
“What? No… it’s not about that.” A blush overtook her face. “I… there’s something I need to tell you.”
He still had a smile on his face as he looked down at her.
“What’s that, mama?”
