Is there a sexual innuendo woven in her words?
I lift a brow. “Well, it’s a good thing we’re coming up with a system for paying off our debts to one another.”
“What kind of debts?” Noah asks, reminding me that both of her brothers are here… and they have no idea what happened between us last night.
They can never know.
“It’s situational,” I say with a shrug. A pink tint creeps across Willow’s face and she ducks her head, glancing down at her drink before looking back at me. “If I end up helping her with something, she does something to repay the favor and vice versa.”
Finn slowly nods his head. “Seems like a fair exchange.”
Willow’s taking a sip of her drink when she snorts, which transforms into a choking sound.
“You good?” Noah asks, his brow furrowing as he looks at her.
My phone vibrates and I pull it out of my pocket. It’s a message from Harrison.
Harrison
Be there in fifteen.
Jace
Meet you there.
“I gotta head out. Harrison must have gotten a head start and I need to go meet him.”
Noah nods. “Let me know if you need any help from us.”
“Of course,” I say, looking at him and Finn, dipping my chin at them both before my eyes trail back to Willow. “Should I meet you at the store later this afternoon?”
Willow smiles softly. “That sounds good.”
Leaving the Alder siblings, I head out of the house and make my way to my truck. My phone is still in my hand and I type her name, opening our message thread as I climb inside.
Jace
Let me cook dinner for you tonight.
Willow
I have a lot to do at the shop.
Jace
Then I’ll bring dinner to you.
Willow
Is this your way of paying me back for last night?
Jace
Absolutely not.
Willow
Then how do you plan on paying me back?
