So sexy.

I stole a quick kiss, just because I could. When she smiled afterward, I felt like a triumphant king. Nothing conventional was going on between us like this. Nothing traditional or expected, but fuck, she made me feel good.

That didn’t mean I’d trust her all the way, though.

To have my back, yes.

To make me come hard, for sure.

But to tell me why she was sent to hunt me down? No.

As I loosened the bindings on her wrists, I took an extra moment to smooth my thumbs over the slight red marks that remained. It wasn’t bad, and she didn’t seem worried either. Maybe she was still too rocked by coming like that to care yet.

“I can help.”

I shook my head, knowing she was too sated and sleepy to assist me now. Besides, the faster I scoped it out and was confident that no one would bother us here, I could join her in this bed again.

Tying her up had made a difference, but too many things had changed between us now.

She wouldn’t run.

Somehow, I had faith in her willingness to keep playing this game of secrecy with me.

True to nature, though, she was stubborn, getting up and rubbing her wrists. “I’ll come.”

“I can handle this.”

She arched a brow as I stood to get dressed. “No more worries that I’ll run?” She let out a wry laugh. “You think I’ll be so addicted to the idea of getting some that I won’t stray?” Standing slowly, she let me see all of her. Her shirt and bra hung loose from her elbows, but I took a moment to smile softly and re-clasp her bra. Much as I hated to cover up those tits, I didn’t want to risk anyone else still being around and seeing what I wanted to declare as mine.

Only mine.

Possessive much?

I rolled my eyes at my thoughts.

“You could’ve run away from me at any time in that jungle.”

She gazed at me as I buttoned her shirt back together.

“You could’ve shot me.”

She lowered her head as she reached for her shorts.

“And you could’ve tried to takemygun, too.”

As she pulled her shorts on, she shrugged one shoulder. “I could’ve.”

But you didn’t.Actions were going to speak louder than any words we’d share right now.

“Fine. Maybe you’re starting to trust me.” I couldn’t read the look on her face. “But for the sake of my sanity, I’d rather stick with you if anyone else is around here. Two are better than one.”

“Aww,” I drawled sarcastically, draping my arm around her shoulders as I led her out of the room with me. “You did miss me.”

She sighed, making it sound exasperated, but she didn’t argue. Honestly, now that I’d seen her in action, I knew she could handle her own. She wasn’t a slacker, and she was clearly trained in combat or in the field. She didn’tneedme, but I wished she could.

“Just keep in mind that we don’t have a lot of ammunition, okay?”

She nodded. “Were they after us in particular or did you make the mistake of trespassing on their turf?”
