“More. I need more,” she panted.
“So greedy,” he chuckled before he slipped two more fingers into her and pumped them into her hard and fast the way he knew she liked it. He could tell she was already on the edge so he kissed a path down to her pussy and sucked her clit into his mouth to set off the chain reaction that would cause her orgasm to detonate.
When the orgasm hit, Kaia arched off the bed and screamed his name so loud she knew everyone in the compound most likely heard them but she didn’t give a fuck. It wasn’t like it was the first time they’d heard the two of them and it sure as shit wouldn’t be the last. Not if she could help it. She only had so much time left with him and she would spend as much of it in bed with him as she could get. Tears stung her eyes and she blinked before she pushed those thoughts away. Now wasn’t the time to be thinking about that. “I need you inside me, Rafe. Please.”
“What my woman wants, my woman gets,” he replied, kissing his way up her body. He settled between her thighs and pressed the tip of his cock at her entrance. “I love you, Kaia. So fucking much.”
“I love you too, Rafe.”
He entered her with one push, burying himself to the hilt, and they both moaned as he filled her. “I’m sorry I’ve been such an ass,” he said as he began to move.
“I forgive you,” she replied, caressing his jaw with her fingertips. “You were dealing with some heavy shit. I’m just glad you finally told me.”
“So am I, babe.”
Then there was no more talking as they moved together. With each thrust they climbed higher and higher toward that peak together. Her fingernails dug into his shoulder, leaving red grooves in the skin, before she raked her nails down his back as her walls clenched around him as she came screaming.
“Fuck!” Rafe roared as he followed her over the edge into bliss. He collapsed on top of her for several moments before he rolled to the side, taking her with him. “I’ve missed this, missed you,” he murmured into her hair.
“You and me both,” she replied, nuzzling him. “Let’s not do that again. Go weeks without. I can’t take it.”
“Don’t worry babe, I’ll be taking you every fucking night from now on,” he promised.
“I’ll hold you to that, mister,” she laughed. Then she sobered. “We need to tell everyone.”
“I know. I wish we could keep it to ourselves, but it wouldn’t be fair. It’s going to crush a lot of people.”
“You’re loved, Rafe. We’re a family,” she reminded him.
“I know babe. There’s no time like the present. Everyone should be gathering for breakfast. Let’s get this over with. The guards can be told later.”
“Okay.” They got up, cleaned up quickly, dressed, and headed out of their quarters for the makeshift dining area where everyone who wasn’t on guard duty would be gathered for breakfast.
“Good morning you two! I’m surprised you two decided to join us this morning, what with all the noises coming from your room,” Tuck called out to them when he saw them.
“Oh shut it. You’re just jealous,” Kaia replied. Tuck was the only one who ever gave them shit but it was always in good-natured fun.
“Sad but true,” Tuck muttered just loud enough for Kaia to hear.
Kaia arched a brow and made a mental note to take him aside and talk with him when she had the chance. “Listen up everyone, we have something we need to talk to you about and it’s pretty serious,” she said, taking Rafe’s hand.
“I’ll do this,” Rafe said, stepping forward. “I know you’ve all noticed a change in my behavior over the last few weeks. I’ve been distant, even with Kaia. I’m not proud of the way I’ve been acting, not at all. There’s a reason for it. A few weeks ago I got some news that shook my foundation. I hadn’t been feeling well for a while, but I’d kept it to myself. I’m a man, what can I say, I’m stubborn,” he said and everyone laughed. “Anyway, I finally went to Doc a few weeks ago and he ran a bunch of tests. He ran them three damn times just to make sure. There’s no easy way to say this so I’m just going to come right out and say it. I have Ataxia Sacer.”
“What? No! You can’t!” Aimee said from where she sat near Tuck. “That’s a death sentence!”
“I know it is, little bit,” Rafe said gently.
Aimee’s eyes filled with tears. “But you can’t die. We need you. I need you. Kaia needs you, You can’t!” She got up and ran from the tent and Tuck, surprising everyone but Kaia, went after her.
There were murmurs all around them and Rafe held up his hands to quiet everyone down. “I’m not dying yet, you’ve got to put up with my sorry ass for at least another month,” he told them. “But now you know why I’ve been such a moody asshole.”
“Fuck, man, I’m sorry to hear this. I know we don’t know each other well but everyone here speaks highly of you,” Micah said, coming up to him.
“Thanks. You’re Micah, right. You came from Drago compound recently, right?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Good. We’re going to need to sit and have a chat with you later. We’ll explain why when we talk.”
