"Good save, mister," she said with a laugh. "That sounds good," she added.
He turned on the Roku and got a movie going.
Frankie snuggled in and the next thing she knew, the credits were rolling. "Oh, wow, I didn't mean to fall asleep on you," she said sheepishly.
"It's okay, darlin'. You've had a long day. Let's hit the sack."
He helped her off the sofa, and she followed him to the bedroom.
"Here you go, darlin'," he said, handing her one of his T-shirts to sleep in.
She changed, and they crawled into bed once the curtains were tightly closed.
"Goodnight, darlin'. Get some sleep."
"Goodnight, lover boy. You too," she replied with a yawn. She curled around him and let her body relax, but her mind wouldn't settle. She couldn't help but wonder what her stalker would do next.
"You're thinking too hard, darlin'. What's on your mind?"
"I'm sorry. I can't help wondering what my stalker's going to do next. We've made it so he can't watch us even when we're just sleeping. So what is he going to do now?"
"I wish I had the answers for you, but I don't. All we can do is wait and see."
"I'm sick of all this waiting. I want him todosomething already."
"Bite your tongue, woman. Don't go jinxing us now."
"You're not superstitious, are you?" she asked with an arched brow.
"What? Naw, I'm just saying," he shrugged.
"Uh huh. Sure you're not."
"Watch it with that smart mouth," he said with a growl and tickled her.
She squealed and squirmed in his arms. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry! You're not superstitious," she said through her laughter.
"Feel better?" he asked, nuzzling her.
"Yeah, I do. I think I can sleep now," she replied.
They settled down again and this time, when she closed her eyes, her mind wasn't racing. With Yaeger's arms wrapped around her, she let sleep claim her.

He sat in the shadows and watched as the lion flirted with his gem. He seethed at the way the lion made her laugh and smile. It should behimmaking his precious gem smile, not the lion. Soon that smile would be for him and him alone.
He was biding his time, following the lion's every move, waiting for the perfect time to strike.
For three days he watched and waited, and then the perfect opportunity presented itself. Who was he to pass it up?
