"I'm not going to let anything happen to you. Why don't you come stay out at the cabin with me?"
"No, I'm not going to leave my home just because some sicko wants to watch us fuck. It's not happening."
"Then I'll stay with you."
"You're not moving in with me. You're more at risk than I am, remember? He's already killed two men just for touching me. You've done a hell of a lot more than that. I need to get to work before I'm late," she said, ending the discussion.
"This discussion isn't over, darlin'," he growled before he turned the truck on, got it in gear, and headed for the Tasty Skull.
"Will I see you later?" she asked when he dropped her off.
"You know it, darlin'. I'll be here just like I am every night."
She leaned up and kissed him. "Good. See you tonight then."
She headed inside and there were the dreaded flowers. Her hand shook as she reached for the card.
The way your body shone in the moonlight took my breath away. Soon, my precious gem, you will shine for only me.
Nausea rolled in her stomach as she read the card. She'd known it was her stalker outside her window, but now she had confirmation. She ran to the ladies room and vomited up her breakfast before she took the flowers out to the dumpster like she always did. She wished she could throw the card away, but she had to show it to Yaeger later. He deserved to see it.
As the day wore on, she tried to put the note out of her mind and waited for her mate to arrive.
Chapter Fourteen
Yaeger
After dropping Frankie off at work, Yaeger found himself on Yin's doorstep. He stood there for several minutes before he finally knocked.
"I was wondering if you were ever going to knock or if you were going to stand there forever with your thumb up your ass," Yin said when he opened the door. "Chloe's out with Dhia, so we've got the place to ourselves. Come on in. What brings you by?"
"Frankie's stalker. I need someone to talk to about this shit." He stepped inside and let the door close behind him.
"What's happened?"
"The sick fucker was watching us while we had sex last night from her bedroom window."
"Fuck, Yaeger, if he wasn't gunning for you before, he sure as fuck is now."
"Let him come," he growled. "I'll take him out. We went to the police today, but they said unless he does something serious, there's nothing they can do. He's threatening to kidnap her in his notes and there's nothing they can do. Can you believe that shit?" He paced the living room.
"So have her move into the cabin with you until you can find him and end him."
"I tried. She won't do it and she won't let me move in with her either. Stubborn woman."
"Then we find him and end him before he can hurt your mate," Yin said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"That's what I'm trying to do. I think it's time I call in the big guns; a private security firm. I know a guy. He owes me a favor, I think it's time I collect."
"Sounds like you got it all figured out. Just watch your back while you take care of business."
"I will. Thanks for listening, boss," he said as he headed for the door. Now that he had a plan of action, he could go see Frankie without the weight of the world on his shoulders.
The moment he walked into the Tasty Skull, he knew she was upset. He could see the tension in the way she held herself. He wanted to take her to a quiet corner to talk, but one, there were no quiet corners in a tavern and two, she was working. He had to wait until she was on break to find out what was wrong. He made his way to the bar where she stood.
"Hello, darlin'."
"Hey, lover boy. You want your usual, or are you going to change it up?"
