"How? The florist won't tell you anything, and that was our only lead."

"I'll figure something out. I won't let him hurt you."

That was when she pulled the note from her pocket. "This was with tonight's flowers," she said, sliding it over to him.

He growled when he read it. "Maybe we need to bring these to the cops. They have resources I don't."

"If you think that's best," she replied. Then she shook her head. "Enough about him. The winter festival is coming up. Would you like to go? It's usually a lot of fun, despite the cold."

"With you? I'd love to."

"Great. It's a date then. I better get back to work. No rest for the wicked," she said with a wink. She stole another fry off his plate and headed back to work.

At the end of her shift, he was right there ready to walk her out. "You've got me spoiled," she told him.

"You complaining?"

"Not a chance," she replied with a laugh. Once they reached her car, she wrapped her arms around him. "A girl could get used to this."

"That's the plan, darlin'. I want to do this every night I can. I want you to know how special you are."

She leaned up and kissed him. "Thank you. You make me feel special with every little thing you do."

His arms tightened around her and he kissed her back. "I should let you go before I ravish you right here."

"Public sex is definitelynotone of my kinks."

"We'll revisit this conversation at a later date, darlin'. I want to hear all about your kinks," he growled.

She shivered, but it wasn't from the cold. "Yes, sir."

"Oh, I do like that."

"Don't get too used to it, bover Boy," she replied and took a step back. "It's getting late. I should get home."

"Goodnight, darlin'. Sweet dreams," he told her and released her so she could get in her car.

Frankie knew he would follow her home and make sure she got in safe and sound before he headed home to his cabin. The man truly cared about her, and that made her feel warm all over.

When she got to her door, she waved at him and headed inside to shower and relax before bed.

Chapter Eleven

Frankie

The morning of the Winter Festival, she awoke bright and early. She was excited to spend the entire day with Yaeger, just enjoying the day. Yaeger was coming for breakfast, so she got to work making eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Then she kept everything warm in the oven. When there was a knock at the door, she went to answer it.

"Good morning, darlin'."

"Good morning yourself, lover boy," she replied with a smile. "Please, come in."

He stepped inside and pulled her into his arms once the door was closed. "I haven't had my morning kiss," he said, then proceeded to give her a kiss that curled her toes.

By the time the kiss ended, she was breathless. "Wow. That was one hell of a morning kiss."

"What can I say? I missed you," he replied.

"I missed you, too," she admitted. "Breakfast is keeping warm in the oven. I hope you like scrambled eggs with onions and peppers and pancakes."
