"So you want to tell me what's wrong, or are you going to make me guess?"

"What makes you think something's wrong?"

"I could tell when I walked in that you were on edge."

She sighed and slid a piece of paper across the table to him.

Yaeger took it and read it.

He will never make you happy.

"We both know that's a lie. He's trying to get under your skin, darlin'. Don't let him. I'm surprised it's not a threat."

"Not yet, but I fear that's coming and I don't know how I'm going to handle that," she confessed.

"By not letting him win. I'm going to the florist tomorrow to see if I can find out who is sending you the flowers. I'm done with letting this bastard stalk you."

"I…never even thought of that. Maybe we can put an end to all of this easily."

"That's my hope. If they can't give me anything, we'll figure something else out. We'll find him. I promise." Fuck, he hoped he didn't break his word.

"I'm trusting you. I have to get back to work."

"Don't let him rattle you. That's what he wants, darlin'."

"Easy for you to say. You don't have a crazy person stalking you," she grumbled and went back to work.

"I'd trade places with you any day, d," he countered.

The rest of the night passed by without any issues. "Walk you to your car?" he asked, slipping an arm around her waist.

"Such a gentleman when you want to be. Thanks, lover boy." She leaned into him as they made their way to her car.

Once there, he took her face in his hands and kissed her deeply. "Mmm, I hope you get some good sleep tonight."

"With that goodnight kiss, how could I not?" she replied.

He chuckled. "That was the point. Goodnight, darlin'. Sweet dreams."

"Goodnight, bover Boy."

He watched her drive away before he got in his truck and headed home.

He was at Kayla's Florist as soon as they opened up in the morning. He was hoping for good news. "Good morning, welcome to Kayla's Florist. Can I help you?"

"I certainly hope so. You've been delivering white lilies to my girlfriend, and I was wondering if you could tell me who has been sending them."

"I can't do that. It wouldn't be right."

"I have reason to believe this person is a danger to my girlfriend. Please."

"I can't just give you personal information like that. Come back with a warrant and you can have it."

"Thanks for nothing," he said as he left. Well, that was a bust.

He headed back to his cabin and found Yin waiting for him.

"What's this I hear you're in the crosshairs of a rogue who has already killed two people?" Yin asked. There was an edge to his voice that had Yaeger swallowing. Yin was pissed and a pissed Yin could be a bad thing.
