She shakes her head. “You tattooed my name on your wrist, Rominy. I may never recover.”
“Well, I wrote it with a pen in the real world.”
“Do you really want Tharios to make it permanent?”
“That depends on whether your shock means you think I’m ridiculous or you want to rip my shirt off. I’m not quite sure.”
When she reaches for the hem of his shirt, he grins and shrugs out of it for her.
“In that case, the answer is definitely yes.”
“Stop talking.” She doesn’t give him the chance to do anything else before her lips claim his in an eager kiss and her hands find his chest.
This is more like it. They can chase dragons later. Probably.
“You sure this is what you want, love?” he breathes as he trails his lips along her jaw.
“I want many things from you tonight, Rominy Montarac.”
“That sounds amazing.”
“No more talking.”
He holds back a smile and happily gives her what she wants.
Rewriting the Story
Episode 124
Arisanna’seyesarebarelyopen when Cerian asks the train to stop, and as the brakes squeal, she clutches his arm.
“Forgive me,” he says. “I suppose I could have given you a moment to get your bearings. Your heart is pounding.”
She studies him, relaxing her grip on his arm as she looks up at him. “My heart isn’t the only one pounding.”
“Perhaps.”
It’s a cryptic response. He’s definitely hiding something.
Before she can ask what he’s up to, he lifts her off his lap and sets her on her feet. “I think we should get off the train.”
She rests her hands on her hips. “You are plotting something.”
Gazing into her eyes, he reaches for her hands, threading his fingers with hers. “The day we left Levina, Elowyn told me to let myself have a love story. And tonight, if the heartlanding cooperates, I’m hoping to rewrite a chapter of that story. Will you be the other half of my love story, Arisanna?”
It’s all she can do not to gape at him. “And you think you struggle with words,” she breathes.
“I’ve been told I have my moments. You didn’t answer my question.”
“Is it even a question? Because the answer could never be anything but yes, could it?”
“Not for me.” He tugs her toward the door, and she gasps when the castle in Levina comes into view.
“This is—”
“Yes. Come on.” He lightly steps down the stairs, and she follows behind him.
He looks so excited. So happy. It’s contagious, and when he jogs toward the castle, she hurries along with him, clutching his hand and trying to keep up.
