He winked his eye at me before gazing out at the rest of the crowd.
“Something real juicy, sexy, that taste as sweet as she looks.” He continued.
I looked around me and saw all of the women swooning. They screamed until their voices cracked and fanned themselves.
“I mean damn…” He licked his thick cinnamon lips then tugged at his beard. “A nigga went crazy for years…searching for that special thick woman.” He shook his head and bit down on his bottom lip.
“Since I found it here, it’s only right I have the DJ drop my new single, calledBGL…Big Girl Lovin’.” Dreu nodded his head to the DJ and the beat to the song dropped.
He looked back at me, his smile faded, Dreu’s thick bushy brows lifted as his chest expanded on a sharp breath. He mouthed the wordsPancake, before he started to nod his head and engage with the crowd.
It was like fate had shoved us back into the same moment on purpose. I couldn’t even breathe properly as Devin yelled beside me, oblivious. I looked over at his friend Trey and the evidence of him noticing the crazy exchange between Dreu and I was written all over his bitch ass face.
All I could do was stand there as everyone danced to Dreu’s new single. Dreu got to his next verse and rapped it as he looked at me like I was unforgettable.
“Baby, I’m addicted to that big girl lovin’, thick thighs, soft waist, yeah, you got me wide open. Ain’t no shame in your frame, girl, I was proud you were mine. Every curve, every line, got me lost in your design. Ain’t no pressure in your presence, you the calm to my storm. From your hips to your lips, everything just right…”
Dreu squatted down and faced me, his brown orbs stared right through my soul as he continued to rap. I felt myself get emotional and looked away from his heated gaze. I wildly looked around for an escape and found one behind me. This was too damn much; I wouldn’t be able to stand here in the middle of his performance. I leaned close to Devin and told him my stomach hurt from the drink. Before he could even acknowledge what I told him, I made my way through the crowd and away from the stage.
The song continued, Dreu’s lyrics turned more explicit as I picked up my pace. Fuck the bathroom, I needed to get home.
Even home wasn’t safe…Dreu knew where I lived because I hadn’t moved. Years ago, he was persistent, I had to block every fake page he created to reach out to me. I knew Dreu was going to be a star, I saw how people took to his looks and persona via social media. I was proud of him, that his dream to become his own man without his parents’ money had finally come true. I heard his songs on the radio, and although he rapped off beat, he had some club bangers that really got you in the mood to turn up. Devin had a lot of rappers he loved and literally praised. If he had told me that Dreu would be the one performing at this fest, I wouldn’t have come.
I decided against going home. Instead, I called Tammy and told her we could go out so I could keep my mind off the man that once stole my heart then broke it.
Chapter 4
Dreu
My body was drenched in sweat, I knew I shouldn’t have gotten tipsy before performing tonight. My chest stayed tight the entire rest of my set. I couldn’t even enjoy the fact that the crowd loved my new singleBGL. It felt like somebody had they fist wrapped tightly around my ribs and squeezed every time I thought about, her…
The universe had to be playing with me. Because what were the damn chances? What were the odds? Out of everybody in this city…she was here? After I started thinking about her thick ass yesterday? Pancakes? My flat booty freak that I fell deeply in love with years ago?
I looked down at my hands and witnessed them shaking. My heart beat erratically as I tried to calm myself down before I had a damn anxiety attack.
Jatavia was really here tonight…looking good as fuck. It felt like fate had tapped me on the shoulder and asked, “You ready now?”
I wasn’t even hearing half of the beat. My verses were like muscle memory because my mind was somewhere else. With her…with the past… with everything I had wished I done differently when it came to her.
I exhaled like I’d been holding my breath the entire performance. Iceman shoved a blunt into my hand so fast, it was like he knew.
“You look stressed,” he chuckled. “They fuckin’ withBig Girl Lovin’although I still think the song thirsty as hell.” He shook his head.
I rolled the blunt between my shaking fingers, totally distracted.
“Where’s my phone?” I asked no one in particular.
Ghost pointed toward my dressing room.
“Same place you tossed it before you went on stage. The fuck wrong with you?” He asked.
I ignored him, I pushed through the door and Rina was already in my face.
“Dreu, okay listen…We still have the influencer meet up, one interview, a backstage photo set, and?—”
“Quiet,” I snapped.
“But—”
