You should invest in the voice lessons your teacher suggested. It sounds like you have a gift.
That’s one thing that I don’t think I’d be good at. Your dad might be right about the risk of hating something once it becomes a job, but I believe that if you’re doing something you love, it will never feel like work. Just make sure it doesn’t become your entire identity because if you decide you no longer enjoy it, the fact the two have been intertwined so long may be hard for you to reconcile.
I don't have a favorite holiday. If I absolutely had to choose one, I guess it'd be Memorial Day. I've always hated the idea of holidays dedicated solely to gift giving. Gifts should be thoughtful, not forced. Plus, I’m a bad gift giver.
No, for the thousandth time, I am not your mom, Dove, and I don’t know who Margarita is. I’m guessing she wrote down a fake address on the hospital delivery form on account of her hoping no one would try to find her. I’m sorry if that’s harsh, but sometimes, life is brutal. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for her to make a plan for adoption for you. With that said, I do hope that you find her someday. You deserve that.
I didn’t know any of that shit about astrology. I’d be ok with never being told that I’m a ‘Libra,’ again. I find it hard to believe that you can classify an entire group of people from millions of diverse backgrounds, upbringings and locations who happened to be born in the September-October time frame and expect them to all act and think the same.
Dallas
Chapter 7 – Paloma
12 years ago…Paloma is 15 years old; Dallas is 19 years old.
Dear Dallas – (if that’s even your real name?),
YOU DON’T BELIEVE IN ASTROLOGY?! WE CAN’T BE PEN PALS.
Just kidding.
You’re probably right that trying to categorize an entire population based on birth dates and personality traits is a bit of a stretch. However, my sister Millie often reads my horoscope from gossip magazines that she’s always flipping through, and sometimes, the things she reads for me as a Libra seem surprisingly accurate!
She told me that astrology has an impact on friendships and even compatibility in relationships. For example, she currently has a crush on a boy who is a Pisces and she's an Aries. Apparently, those are some of the least compatible signs, so she refuses to go out on a date with the guy even though he's totally into her.
Anyways, your app sounds boring. Did you find a buyer for it yet? Who would even want to buy something like that? What do they do once they buy it?
Los Angeles sounds amazing. So does Northern California. Texas is typically hot year-round and not the fun hot, but the stifling, brutal humidity type of hot that makes me sweaty the moment I step outside.
We get a brief break during the winter but it’s short lived. With that said, I can’t imagine ever living anywhere else. My family means everything to me, and they'll never leave considering we own a big ranch here.
I sang at the Christmas play at my school last month. That was really cool. Had a solo and everything.
The boy I have a crush on, Henrik, said my voice sounded like an angel. He nicknamed me 'Angel,' but my name means dove so I thought that was kind of weird. Why wouldn’t he just call me Dove like you do?
No one else calls me Dove but you. I kind of like the name Dove better than Paloma.
Dove is my alter-ego identity where I'm confident, wild and sassing a random guy that I write letters to in California. I think I'll claim Dove as our name too.
Henrik is from Germany and his voice is super low and gravely. I could listen to his voice on repeat if I could tape it without being creepy. You’d think he could sing with a voice like that, but he can’t. I don't think he enjoys singing that much.
Since you didn't ask me back (rude), my favorite holiday is Christmas.
I get your point about gifts except I love getting gifts and buying gifts for the people I love. My favorite thing to do during Christmas is cut out paper snowflakes and string them around my bedroom. The music, food and decorations are all my favorite. My mom and I do the decorations every year, culminating with a white silk Dove I place on the tree. It’s one of my favorite things to do with her.
There's just something magical about Christmas time and the slowness that accompanies it for our family.
Anyways My soccer season is starting up next week so I’ll be really busy and unable to write as much but still write back, will ya?
I want to know what happens when you sell this app. Tell me more about your trip to Northern California, please!
