Anytime I ask, she says she’s fine and she hasn’t had any seizure activity. A good sign, but still. It’s gotten to the point where she’ll get annoyed if I ask her. Like I told her, I couldn’t give two shits if she gets frustrated with me. I need to know, and we both know she’s stubborn.

I have to give her props, even with being this tired, having to study, and with finals so close, she’s only managed to get better onstage since opening night. Thankfully, the lead has too.

The clock reads that it’s ten p.m., and I know she’s fighting to keep her eyes open. I’d usually be happy to let her fall asleep nextto me, but not this time around. She needs to stay up. I check my phone and scroll through my messages.

Fuck, come on.

The doorbell rings, and Stevie jumps at the sound. “Did you invite one of the guys over?” she asks before stretching and yawning for the tenth time tonight.

“Yeah, Em forgot something here the other day. I’ll get it.” I kiss her forehead, buzzing the downstairs door open.

“Not that I don’t love Em, but I might head to sleep early if you two are going to hang out.” She rubs her eyes, and I feel kind of bad that this is happening so late, but this was my only chance.

There’s a knock on the door and I open it, letting Stevie see who it is.

Her eyes widen, and she jumps off the couch. “Jenny!” she squeals as her best friend does the same, and I no longer feel bad when she runs into her arms.

They hug each other tightly. “Surprised?” Jenny asks.

Stevie pushes her away. “I thought you couldn’t make it because of finals.”

Her friend shrugs. “I lied. This one—” She points her manicured finger at me and smiles. “—wanted to surprise you.”

My girlfriend looks at me with so much damn joy in those green eyes, I want to take her into our room and…Nope, can’t do that now.

“You,” she whispers simply, and gives me a quick kiss. “I’ll give you your present once she’s gone.”

Letting out a hearty laugh, I turn to Jenny. “It’s nice to meet you finally.”

“And you.” She opens her arms for a hug, and whispers in my ear, “Thank you for taking care of our girl and for paying for my flight.”

It took me two weeks of double lessons to save up for that flight, and it was completely worth it. “My pleasure.”

We separate, and Jenny turns to her friend. “Okay, we need to get some snacks together, and I need to catch you up on everything. You’ve been so frickin’ busy we’ve barely been able to talk, and that includes you, Levi. Come on.”

Jenny goes to Stevie’s room and leaves her suitcase there, making it look like she lives here and isn’t just visiting for a couple of days.

“You were right, she’s going to fit right in.”

Stevie grins and looks back at me. “Thank you for everything.”

I grab her from behind. “Anytime.” Jenny heads into the bathroom, and I kiss Stevie’s neck once she’s out of sight. A small moan slips past her lips, and her ass juts out on instinct. Of course, thiswould get her going. The one time I can’t take her into the room and ravish her. “About that thank-you present…” My lips land on her neck again.

She throws her head back, breathless. “Yes?”

“You have yet to let me claim every part of you.”

Stevie smiles. “You hadn’t mentioned it until now. It’s about time you did.”

I turn her to me. “I might need another pet name for you, Bambi. Your shyness vanished a long time ago, but wanting me to fuck your ass…that’s not innocent of you at all.”

She grabs my shirt and shakes her head. “Don’t you dare call me anything else, Hotshot.”

Her mouth envelops mine, and our tongues meet, causing my hand to wrap in her hair.

“God, if you weren’t my best friend, all three of us would be in bed naked like five minutes ago.” We open our eyes to find Jenny sipping on a soda, smirking. “Unless you don’t mind an audience.” She tips her head to the side.

“She’s going to get along with everyone just fine,” I mutter.
