“It’s settled then!” She looped her arm through Verga’s and quickly pulled him away. “We’ll see you in the lobby after!”
Nate watched her go incredulously.
“Looks like Little Sister approves,” Kazimir grinned and reached out to link their pinky fingers together.
With a sneer, Nate slapped him away and turned toward the left side of the theater. His bravado fled a second later when it really hit him what they were about to do.
“Nervous?” Kaz asked challengingly.
Nate glared. “Lead the way.”
He chuckled. “To the pits of hell, it is.”
Chapter 20:
Admittedly, Nate had always been more than a bit curious about the private viewing rooms at the Seaside Cinema. But that didn’t mean he’d ever intended to actually see one for himself.
There were different offerings for this section of the theater. Some films were preplanned and screened in a similar fashion to the regular movies, only these were adult movies meant for a specific purpose. Patrons could also opt to choose their own films from a wide selection if they didn’t want to purchase tickets for a specific one, like Kaz had.
It was obvious he knew exactly where he was going, leading Nate up the steps and down a long hallway decorated in shades of red and gold. He checked the digital tickets on his multi-slate once and then stopped them at a room with a numbered plaque next to it.
The ticket scanned on the lock pad next to the handle and then there was a click. Kazimir entered first, holding the door open wide for Nate. He watched him silently as Nate hesitated, not saying anything to try and force him to enter.
It almost felt like Nate actually had a choice in the matter.
If only he hadn’t already known better.
With a sigh of resignation, he stepped in, the door locking at his back, sealing him in a small room with only two pieces of furniture. A black leather couch with a plastic film over it was setin the center, closer to the screen that took up the entire wall in front of it than it was to the exit. To the left of that there was a counter, and Kazimir went and placed the tray with their food on it.
“Sit down,” he instructed. “I’ll get the movie going.”
“Did you do this on purpose?” Nate blurted. He’d seemed sincere out there, talking with Neve, but if this were some sort of setup… “Today was important to me. I don’t appreciate you stepping in and ruining it.”
“Is it ruined?” Kaz tilted his head and leaned back against the counter. The move stretched the thin material of his shirt across his taught chest. “It was an honest mistake, really. It never even occurred to me you’d be seeing a kids’ movie.”
Nate opened his mouth to argue but ended up clamping it shut instead. Get Friends was an animated film, yes, and it was true the preview had made it seem kid-friendly. “Neve is a big fan of the animator.”
“You’ll be a big fan of this, promise,” he winked, and when it was clear Nate wasn’t amused, rolled his eyes. “Come on, Pretty Boy. You’re already here. Give it a shot.”
“Pornography isn’t really my thing.”
“This is so much more than that. It’s an experience.” He moved closer, quirking a brow when Nate gave him a suspicious look before pressing his palm to the control panel on the right wall only a foot away from where Nate was standing. “Relax. It’s not like I brought you in here to kill you.”
“Just torture me some more.”
“Is that how you’ve been thinking of it?”
Nate crossed his arms. “Are we really just going to watch a movie?”
“A sex film,” Kaz corrected, easing in closer until he’d forced Nate to retreat back against the closed door. He lifted a hand and planted it at the side of his head, the other reachingdown so he could slip a finger through Nate’s belt loop. “And no. You’re going to watch the movie. I’m going to be watching you. Now,” he stepped back all at once, “go sit down like a good boy so we can get started.”
“If I say I don’t want to?”
Kaz sighed. “What are you so afraid of, Narek?”
“You.” He shouldn’t have said it, but the word popped out of his mouth before he could stop it.
“Why?” Kazimir seemed to genuinely be asking. “There are so many people on this planet who have reason to fear me, but you’re not one of them.”
