“Ash!” Panic slices through me as I try to relax into his hold. After a few awkward seconds, I pat him lightly on his shoulder and step back into Dom. His entire body is stiff as we collide, and I can feel the tension rolling off of him. “You remember Dominic, right?”
“Yeah, of course.” Ash offers him his hand, and Dom shakes it firmly. “How are you, man?”
“Good.”
The one word is like a razor blade, cutting through the friendly smile on Ash’s face in a split second.Lord, he’s not even pretending to be nice.If I thought I could get away with it, I’d elbow him in the ribs.
“Ash, it’s nice to see you again!”
My voice is high and threaded with anxiety. I’m so ready for this evening to be over. First Chris crashed dinner and upset Mal. And now I’m standing in front of the man I lied to in order to get out of a date with the one who made that lie, and all the ones that have followed, feel more than worth it at my back.
“It’s nice to see you too. I’m sorry I haven’t called. Work has been busy and…”
“You’ve been preoccupied with the other women you’ve been seeing,” Dom cuts in, his voice still doing that razor blade thing. This time there’s poison on the blade. “That’s why you’re here, right?”
It’s only then I notice the small bouquet of flowers in Ash’s hand. He looks stunned, and once again I find myself wanting to laugh in the most awkward moment. I put my hand on his forearm and give him a soft smile.
“No worries. I’ve been swamped at work too. Actually, Dominic and I were just discussing the project we’re working on over a quick dinner.”
“Nice,” Ash says, but his smile is gone and discomfort is etched into the fine lines around his eyes and mouth. “Well, it was good to see you.”
“You too, Ash.” I turn, happy to be done with this interaction. “Have a good night.”
We walk back to the parking lot in silence, and I laugh when I see that Dom got a spot right beside me. I turn my head to ask him how he managed to do that, but he grabs my hand and pulls me between our cars before I get the chance. My shocked gasp hits the air as he presses me to the passenger side of my car and kisses the life out of me. Leaving me breathless and wet by the time he pulls away.
“Let me guess, you’ve been wanting to do that all night?”
He nips at my lips. “Yes, and seeing you in his arms again only made it worse.”
“I sleep in your arms every night, and you’re still jealous of a man I went on one date with?”
He pulls back to look at me, and suddenly I’m drowning in a sea of dark desire that makes me feel like I’m melting. Every molecule of my body bleeding slowly into his with the kind of precision that makes it all feel inevitable. Like an invisible needle and thread is running between us, stitching us together with something much deeper than stolen moments, hidden desire, and a shared goal neither of us has mentioned since our first real night together.
“Angel.” He plants a kiss on my lips. “I’m jealous of the wind that gets to blow through your curls.” Another kiss, this time to my jaw. “Of the fabric that gets to hug your curves all day and the moonlight that streams across your skin at night.” A licking kiss to my neck followed by a scrape of his teeth. “So yes, I’m jealous of a man you went on one date with becausehedoesn’t have to hide how bad he wants you. Not even when he’s about to take another woman out to dinner.”
“Dom…” I breathe, but no other words come.
I’m flayed open by his words, by the emotion in his voice, and the gravity of his confession. I cup his face in my hands and pull him back up to me. Offering him my lips in place of the words I can’t speak. He takes them with a fevered passion that makes the whole world fall away until there’s nothing but me and him.
I hear the bag of food hit the gravel and then his hands are on me, his fingers hooking behind my knees and lifting me up so he can grind his erection into my core. And I want to cry because the contact is so perfect, the pressure so exact that the early tremors of an orgasm have already started.
“Unlock the door,” Dom orders harshly, and I’m glad I still have the keys in my hand, because digging through my purse is the last thing I want to do. The locks click and he steps back to pull the back door open. He lays me down on the seat and drops to his haunches in front of me. “Look at me. I want you to watch me while I take care of what’s mine.”
I sit up, using my elbows for support and not giving one single fuck about the fact that he’s about to eat me out in a public parking lot. Anyone could walk by and find us like this, but that knowledge only makes his fingers pushing up my dress and sliding my panties to the side that much hotter. Two thick fingers slide inside of me, and it’s all I can do to keep my eyes open and focused on the man in front of me.
He bites his lip and smiles at me. “Always so wet for me, angel.”
“Yes,” I say, even though it wasn’t a question.
My back arches off of the seat, and my hips rock against the fullness in my core. Pleasure ignites in my veins as another rush of arousal slips from me and coats his fingers. He curses through clenched teeth as he pushes in deeper. I buck against him, silently begging for more. He pulls back, then plunges back into mehard. I moan loudly and Dom bites the inside of my thigh.
“Be quiet or I’ll stop right now. Is that what you want?”
I shake my head furiously, knowing that I’ll die if he stops right now. “No. Please. I’ll be quiet.” I press my lips together, and he raises a skeptical brow like he doesn’t think I can do it.
Challenge accepted.
But when he lowers his head and flicks his tongue over my clit, I almost lose it. Dom looks up at me, and the sight of my juices glistening in the hairs of his beard is so obscene I start to tremble. When he’s satisfied that I’ll keep my promise, he comes back to me, flattening his tongue and giving me a long, filthy lick from the top of my slit over my clit. Then he pulls it into his mouth and sucks hard while his fingers plunge inside of me repeatedly.
