But by her curious nature, I already know what her next question will be. Looking up at him, she asks, “What do you have planned?”

He runs the tip of his index finger down her nose before answering quietly, “So much.” I should want to gut him for the way he speaks to her, but I love every second. I love watching her react, anticipation written all over her soft features. “But first, how do you feel about a spa day?”

“Oh, my God, yes please,” she looks at me, “Is that okay?”

“Of course it’s alright. We can do whatever you want.” I don’t need to tell her that I mean that in more ways than one. I’ve never felt the desire to bed someone with Fritz, but my attraction to both of them, coupled with my overwhelming need to please Bel, has my cock begging for the chance.

“Perfect,” Fritz chirps. “So you, Sweetness, will spend the day at the spa, and I will spend the day catching Cas up on everything he’s missed in the last couple of centuries.”

She raises a brow, “Just the two of you?” There’s no malice or venom in her voice, only a playful lilt. She can’t hide her excitement from either of us, and she knows it.

“Do not fret, Little Dove. We won’t have any fun without you.” She tries to hide her face in her coffee mug, andby the Gods, she wants this so bad.Fritz must have the same thought if the hunger in his eyes is any indication.

I toy with a couple strands of her hair while she stays in the comfort of his embrace, stealing just another moment of joy before the source of it is whisked away for someTLCas Fritz called it. “I truly need to be informed of the advancements the warlocks made while I was gone. And someone who can tell me what’s different and what is the same between now and before.”

“I totally understand. I was only joking,” she assures me, “When do I need to be ready to go?”

Fritz explains, “Finish up your coffee, then we’ll escort you. They’ll have a robe, but you need to bring a swimsuit in case you decide to use the sauna or jacuzzi. We’ll have clothing delivered before the end of your treatments.”

“Treatments?” She beams, and her happiness is so warm I want to bask in her light for eternity.

“Anything you like,” he tells her, “I haven’t been myself but I know they do all the facial and massage stuff, hair, make up, the works.”

“You’re full of shit. You 100% have had spa days here,” she laughs at him.

“Fuck, okay, you caught me,” he snickers, pulling her closer until they’re nose to nose before he whispers conspiratorially, “Michele is a miracle worker. Look at my pores. There are none. She’ll take great care of you.” He spins her out of his hold, gently pushing her toward her room.

A few moments later, she emerges again, little purse in hand, looking like a child about to enter the world’s largest candy shop. She deserves this. She’s done nothing but adapt to all the horrible things she’s seen. After being forced to reevaluate everything she thought she knew about the worldandherself in only a matter of days, she’s taken up arms to fight still. She needs to relax and have nothing to think about except her own wants for a little while.

As we walk her down, Fritz explains a little more about each part of the hotel. There are so many towers, restaurants, and shops that I haven’t the faintest idea how he remembers it all.

He walks into the spa area before us, talking to the receptionist as I turn Bel to me. “You’ve got your phone, so if you need anything, just call, okay? We will not be far.”

She gently slaps my arm, “Yes, Caspian, I will call if I need you. You don’t need to worry about me. In fact, I’m more worried about you.” At the confused look on my face, she explains, “Well, youwerebeing hunted, if you remember. No one is looking to hurt me.”

“Well ifyouremember, I killed everyone who was hunting me,” I grin, and she slaps a hand over my mouth.

“Shhhh. You can’t say shit like that. Someone will hear you,” she looks around in a panic. The only thing holding my laugh in is her hand. Grabbing her wrist, I mime taking a bite from her palm before releasing her.

Before I can say anything else, Fritz waltzes over and hands her a robe, telling her that Michele will give her a tour and be in charge of her pampering. She nods as he walks her over, then she shakes hands with the older woman, instantly making a new friend. With her robe draped over one arm, she gives us a little wave and disappears down the hall.

Walking back to me with a wide grin on his face, Fritz says, “So, you got a hankering for some grabby hands, or did I hear you sneak off to the basement already this morning?”

“I did, in fact. I appreciate you taking care of that, by the way,” I tell him.

“Of course. As I told your girl, I would have done the same.” He begins walking, and I follow, lest I lose my way.

“Why?” I press casually. He wasn’t willing to share much about his obvious affection for her last night, but hopefully, now he will be.

“Why what? Why would I have done the same?” He seems baffled by my question.

“Yes. Why would you have defended someone you don’t know?” I clarify.

“Well, my reasoning is twofold. First of all, I don’t like bullies, and that guy was a big, drunk, ugly fucking bully. And second, you are my oldest friend. What’s important to you is important to me.”

I narrow my eyes, “And?” I prompt.

“AndI… like her,” he admits, “I may not have had the time to bond with her that you have, but Ilikeher already. I want to protect her, too.”
