He got up and ran into the kitchen to get her a bottle of water. By the time he returned, she’d stopped coughing, but her face was still red. He handed her the bottle of water and waited until she’d taken a few sips before he said anything else.

They really had to stop having these kinds of conversations while they were eating.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah,” she croaked.

“So, I’m guessing you don’t want to move in here.”

Her mouth quirked into a smile before she took another drink. “I really like your house, but I think it’s too small for both of us for a prolonged amount of time. Unless you’re willing to share your office space.”

He couldn’t hide his wince then and she laughed. “Yeah, I didn’t think so.”

“But you’d be okay with living with me?” he asked.

She cocked her head and studied him. “Maybe.”

“Maybe?”

Astra cracked a smile. “I think I would like living with you, but we’ve only been dating for a couple of months, Rune. It would probably be best to wait a few more months before we take a big step like that.”

“I don’t know if I can wait that long,” he groaned.

She laughed. “We see each other nearly every night as it is.”

“Yeah, but I have to haul stuff over to your house or you have to haul stuff to mine. It’s a pain in the ass.”

“So, I’ll clear some drawer and closet space for you, and you do the same for me. That way, no matter where we end up, we don’t have to worry about our stuff.”

“Do you have an answer for everything?”

She paused. “Yes. And I’m always right. You’ll be happier if you just accept it now.”

It was Rune’s turn to laugh. “And so humble as well.”

She shrugged.

“Will you stay the weekend?” he asked. He didn’t want her to go home. Not tonight or tomorrow night.

“Yes, I’ll stay,” she answered. “I took the entire weekend off, too.”

He grinned. “Really? What should we do?”

“The first thing I’m going to do is sleep in,” she said. “So, if you want morning sex, you better wait until I wake up on my own.”

He grinned at her, but he would never wake her up when she had a chance to sleep. She got up before dawn nearly every day. She deserved some rest.

“What should we do after morning sex?” he asked.

Astra shrugged. “I don’t know. Something fun? I haven’t had a full weekend to myself in over a year.”

“A year?”

“Probably closer to two.”

Forget fun. She needed to decompress. Breakfast in bed. A massage. And maybe a movie marathon followed by a nap. If she had the energy for anything else, he’d think of something.

“I know exactly what we should do,” he said.
