I took a shaky breath. “There’s one thing I have to do.”

He cocked his head, waiting for me to explain.

I was making the right decision. He was listening to me. Waiting for me to speak, instead of trying to force me to do what he wanted.

I uncrossed my arms, putting a hand on his chest. The spell I’d palmed from my bag earlier touched his shirt and activated.

Red ribbons wound around his arms and legs, pulling them taut. He flew backward, landing on the bed. The ribbons twined around the post on each corner, tying themselves into a very pretty bow.

“Cari?” he asked. “What in the hell are you doing?”

I put a knee on the bed and crawled closer. “Kidnapping a vampire,” I answered.

God, he looked pissed. Until I threw a leg over him and straddled his hips.

He stared up at me, ire fading into confusion. “What?”

I placed my hands on his chest, leaning forward. “Turnabout is fair play,” I said. “You got to kidnap me. Now, it’s my turn to hold you hostage.”

He swallowed. “For how long?”

I leaned back and felt his erection prod me. Even angry and confused, he wanted me.

“I was thinking forever.”

His gaze heated as he stared up at me, tiny green sparks dancing in his irises.

I leaned forward again and kissed him lightly, pulling back when he tried to deepen the kiss.

“And the only way you can make up for your lie is to not do it again. Tell me the truth. Treat me as your equal.” I pretended to think for a second. “And keep cooking for me and bringing me coffee every morning.”

He smiled up at me, his eyes growing brighter. “I can do that.”

“Now, there’s something I want to do,” I said.

I reached down and tugged my sweatshirt over my head. I was bare beneath it because I was hoping this is where we would end up.

Daniel struggled against the ribbons for a moment, and then stared up at me. “Release me.”

I shook my head, my hair falling around my face. “No.”

His eyes narrowed. “Cari.”

I stood up on the bed, one foot on each side of his hips, and slipped my sweatpants off as well.

When I settled back on top of him, I was completely naked.

“Cari.” My name was a warning.

I ran my hands down his chest to the hem of his shirt before I shoved it higher, baring his torso to me.

“You’re at my mercy,” I said. “Just go with it.”

He grinned up at me even as he strained against the ribbons.

I hovered over him, dragging my lips over his chest, nipping his pectoral. Daniel inhaled sharply, his body tensing beneath mine.

“Just remember, Cari. If you tease me, I get to tease you later”
