He shrugged. "You're better company than Callum."

The vampire in question snorted. "And she'll be better company than you, especially if she likes to game."

I turned to Callum. "Are you sure you don't mind either?"

He grinned at me. "I don't know you well, but I like what I know so far. Plus, you're a lot prettier than my stoic roommate over there. It'll be a bonus."

"You'll let me know when you're ready for me to leave?"

Callum waved a hand. "Don't hold your breath. I've been with that one for centuries and I haven't kicked him out yet."

"Okay, since that's settled," Ava said. "Macgrath will go get your bags out of the car. Your car is parked next to Marcus' vehicle. You might consider putting it in the garage, just in case." This, she said to Marcus.

"No problem," he said.

Ava came over to me and took both of my hands in hers. "I'll come out and see you tomorrow. Or you can have Marcus or Callum bring you to the shop if you're desperate to get away from all this testosterone."

"I can't thank you enough for helping me."

She smiled and squeezed my hands. "Don't thank me yet. You haven't been stuck with these two for a full twenty-four hours yet. You may be calling me to complain tomorrow night."

"I guess we'll see," I answered.

Ava released my hands and pointed at Callum. "Be on your best behavior, please. She's a nice woman and doesn't need to deal with your shit."

"Who me?" Callum asked, his hand pressed to his chest, aghast.

Ava rolled her eyes and turned to Marcus. "And you. Don't be your usual antisocial self."

Unlike Callum, he nodded. "Of course not."

Ava merely sighed and spoke to me. "If you get bored, don't hesitate to force him to hang out with you, take you somewhere, or call me. Do you still have your Taser?"

I nodded.

"Then, feel free to use it on Callum if he gets too annoying."

"Hey!"

I had to smile. Despite knowing what they all were and that they could kill me with no effort, I wasn't afraid of them anymore. They were going out of their way to help me and to keep me safe.

I only hoped my instincts in this case were right.

And that I wouldn't regret this later.
