"An asshole," Callum interrupted.
He wasn't wrong.
Harrison chose that moment to speak up. "Where did you find this information on mating practices?" he asked.
Arien turned to him, folding her hands at her waist, the absolute picture of prim innocence. "Something called Pornhub."
Callum made a choking sound and began coughing. "Excuse."Cough."Me."Cough.
He stumbled away and into the back room, probably to have his laugh in private.
Even I was biting back a chuckle.
Harrison, however, didn't look amused. He closed his eyes and rubbed the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger.
"What's wrong?" Arien asked, finally picking up on the awkwardness of the moment.
I didn't answer, just looked at Harrison. He lowered his hand, opened his eyes, and stared at me. I shrugged and shook my head.
No way was I explaining this to her. Internet porn wasn't really my thing.
Harrison sighed and shook his head again. Finally, he turned back to Arien. "Those types of websites aren't often realistic. At least from a relationship aspect. There are some people that prefer certain things during sex, but it's usually discussed and agreed upon beforehand. But a lot of those videos are just about sex, not about love."
"Do humans not have sex just for pleasure?" she asked, blinking those wide eyes.
Ruddy color rose in Harrison's cheeks. "Yes, they do. But even then, there's usually a measure of respect and discussion, even if there isn't an emotional attachment." When Arien opened her mouth, he lifted a hand. "I do think you should talk to Ava and Savannah about this because they'll be able to explain things in a way you can understand. Men don't always understand how women think, and they'll be able to help you navigate dating and sex when you're ready to experience them."
"What's dating?" Arien asked.
I cleared my throat. "It's like courting, but without chaperones."
That seemed to explain it to her satisfaction because she nodded and went back to wiping the counter.
Harrison went back to the bakery case, and I decided it was a fine time to go into the back of store and see what Callum was up to.
"I'll see you both later," I said with a small wave of my hand.
"Until then," Arien replied.
I shot Harrison a sympathetic look, but he didn't meet my gaze. I couldn't blame him.
When I went through the doors into the storage area, I found Callum sitting on a stool, wiping his eyes and wheezing.
"Are you still laughing?"
His breath hitched as he answered, "Y-y-yes. That was some funny shit."
"You need to stop flirting with Arien in front of Harrison."
Callum took a couple of deep breaths and got himself under control. "No way. I like being able to hear the wolf grind his teeth. I'm hoping someday tiny pieces of his molars will shoot out of his butt. Maybe it'll dislodge the stick that's planted in there."
"Dear God, Callum."
He got to his feet, his eyes sparkling with mischief and humor. "And, maybe if I keep doing it, he'll finally make his move on her. He never had a chance with Ava, but he does have a chance with her. She watches him when he's not paying attention, which isn't very often. I think she's fascinated with him."
"You could tell him that," I pointed out.
Callum shook his head. "No way. I'm not his keeper. If he wants her, he needs to make an effort." He sighed. "Now, why did we end up here?"
