"He's seen your heart and you've seen his. Do you really think you don't know each other?"
I sighed. "No. Yes. I don't know. This isn't exactly something I've dealt with before."
She nodded. "I understand. Just...try to keep an open mind."
"I will."
Ava glanced out the back window. "Ha! I was right. They're sparring and they're shirtless."
Without thinking, I got to my feet and walked to the window over the sink. "Oh, my."
Ava laughed. "I know. I love Ewan with all my heart but I'm not blind. They're all built."
I had to laugh with her. "That they are."
She put an arm around my shoulders. "I'm glad you're here, Merry. And I think that you'll be here for a long time to come if you don't let doubts cloud your head."
I glanced at her and she gave me a squeeze before she released me.
"Just promise me you'll talk to me if you decide to leave," she murmured.
"I will, I promise."
Even as I vowed, I realized that I didn't want to leave. And I probably never would.
