CHAPTERTWENTY-TWO
MERRY
I stretchedand ran a hand along Marcus's torso. His skin was hot. I'd never had a lover with a lot of chest hair, but I liked it on Marcus.
He turned toward me and threw his arm over my waist.
"That was—" I had no words.
"I agree."
I smiled at him. "You don't know what I was going to say."
He settled deeper into to the mattress. His bed was a double and the two of us almost didn't fit on it. "Was it horrible?" he asked.
"No, it wasn't horrible."
"Mediocre?"
I laughed. "No."
He pulled me closer. "Then, maybe we should try again so you can figure out the words."
"It was mind-blowing," I said. "And I need a little time."
Marcus smiled. He seemed relaxed. I hadn't seen him like this before. Then again, I hadn't seen him naked before either. Maybe nudity chilled him out.
Yeah, probably not. If the sex had been half as amazing for him as it had for me, then he was definitely relaxed from the orgasm.
"Merry," he murmured, his fingers trailing over my cheek to my shoulder. "I have some bad news."
My heartbeat stuttered at the look in his eyes. Doubt pricked me for a moment.
"I'm not sure I can let you go," he said.
The trickle of fear vanished. "Who said I'm leaving?"
His hand stilled on my shoulder.
"And if I do, I may kidnap you so I can have a sex slave."
His smile returned. "Is it considered kidnapping if I'm willing though?"
I pretended to think about it. "Probably not."
"Are you saying you'll stay with me?" he asked.
"For now, yes. We'll have to talk again in a few weeks."
"Do you think I'm going to change my mind?" he asked.
I knew he wasn't reading my thoughts because I could feel the wall between us. It had vanished for a split second when he came and I got a flash of his thoughts. But it was back now.
"You might," I said. "I'm not exactly easy to live with."
"You haven't been difficult so far," he said.
"Oh, really? Is that why you were so upset in the kitchen earlier?"
