I edge further off the counter, seeking more friction. Owen doesn’t give it to me, making another light pass with his lips and tongue.
When I let out a frustrated hiss, Owen chuckles against me, but he gives me what I want. His fingers brush against my entrance as his tongue circles my center. The sound that comes out of me probably reveals how long it's been since I’ve been touched.
“Fuck, you’re so wet,” Owen says against me.
All I can manage is an incoherent mumble of agreement, which has Owen laughing. The sound becomes muffled and dies when his tongue lands back on the most sensitive part of me, and his fingers plunge inside.
I arch my back, and suddenly my whole body feels like it’s on fire. I squeeze my eyes shut as the heat builds. I now have a death grip on Owen’s hair, but he doesn’t seem to notice.
“Owen,” I warn him, his movements not letting up.
The intensity grows. There’s no controlling the ascent. I give into it. When the orgasm crashes through me, I’m pretty sure I’m screaming.
“Beautiful,” Owen growls as he stands and trails kisses up my stomach.
Finally opening my eyes, I find him watching me.
“I think you killed me.” My chest is rising and falling in rapid succession, my heart beating so fast.
Owen only smiles. “I’m not done with you yet.” He grabs my limp body and lifts me off the counter. I wrap my legs around his waist and bury my head in his neck. I inhale the scent of him, trying to memorize it. Trying to memorizehim.
I’m acutely aware of how close he is to my entrance. How easy it would be for him to slide into me.
He carries me to the bed and drops me on it. I giggle as his body crawls over me, caging me in.
My laugh stops the moment I notice his face. He looks pained.
“What’s wrong?”
He shakes his head, his eyes never leaving my face. “You have completely ruined me. You have consumed my every thought since I met you. And the craziest part about all this is…” He pauses, but doesn’t pull back or break his gaze. “I feel whole when you’re with me. Complete. Like my body has been searching for you. And now that I’ve found you, I don’t know how I’m going to let you go.”
I don’t say he’s not going to lose me, because it’s a lie, and we both know it. Instead, I pull his mouth to mine and consume him. I speak the words through my lips and my body. The ones I can’t say. The ones I won’t admit.
He groans and lifts my hips with one of his hands, pushing into me as I arch my back to guide him deeper.
“Fuck,” he murmurs against my mouth.
He moves slowly at first, trailing kisses along my neck and jaw until he finds my mouth again.
As the tension starts to coil, I grab his ass and force him even deeper.
“Nova,” he growls a warning.
My only response is a satisfied moan. That seems to trigger something in him as his movements become more frantic.
He reaches between us, and his fingers find my center again.
That’s all it takes, and I tumble over the edge a second time. I cry out, his name on my lips. He follows me shortly after.
We’re both trembling when he collapses on top of me, burying his head in my tangled hair. I wrap my arms around him and close my eyes, trying tocatch my breath. Trying to somehow piece myself back together because, the truth is, he’s shattered me, too.
It’s a strange feeling not to want to be anywhere else but right here with him, and yet at the same moment, all I want to do is run.
Chapter 26
“Are you going to tell me what Peyton said to you, or are you going to make me guess?” I say as we’re both lying in bed. Owen’s arm is thrown over my stomach as I stare up at the ceiling.
Owen takes a deep breath, and I’m too afraid to look at him. Too afraid of what I’ll find in his face. Too afraid of what I know is coming.
