“I’ll send you the address.”

“Okay.”

“Thank you.”

The call disconnected and not long after, my phone chimed with an address. “We have to take her the cat,” I told Maniac and walked toward the car.

“That shit ain’t getting in my car.”

“Can you stop being mean. I just want to get her baby home to her. I’d want someone to do the same for me,” I told him and poked out my lower lip.

Sighing, he replied, “Fine. Let’s go.” He opened the passenger door for me and I climbed into the seat. Taking one look at me, he shook his head and shut the door.

“You’re so beautiful. I really wish I can keep you,” I told the cat as Maniac got in alongside me.

“No, the fuck you don’t,” he said and started the car. I placed the woman’s address into the GPS, and he took us straight there, which wasn’t too far from where we were.

Maniac pulled into the driveway and got out the car. He came around and opened the door for me. I carried the cat up to the front door and pressed the doorbell. A few moments later, this elderly woman pulled the door open.

“Oscar!” Her lips spread from ear to ear when she seen him in my arms.

I handed him over to her and said, “He’s such a sweetheart.”

“Thank you so much for bringing him home. He likes to wonder and sometimes gets lost.”

“It was nice meeting you, Oscar,” I told him as Maniac pulled me away from the door.

When we got back to the car, the flood gates opened. I sat there in my seat with tears streaming my cheeks.

“What yo’ ass crying for?” he asked me when he got in alongside me.

“I want one of those cats.”

“You gotta be kidding me. You got three of those fuckers at home.”

“But it’s not one of those.” Tears dripped off my chin. Snot trickled to my upper lip.

Shaking his head, he backed out the driveway.

THE FOLLOWING DAY

Wren been walking around the house all in her feelings about that damn cat. I’ve been searching, trying to figure out where I can buy one from where it’ll be here before she goes into labor. Hell, for it to be here before the day was over. Whatever my woman wants, she always gets no matter how stupid I may think it is.

Since I came up empty handed, I knew exactly what I was gon’ have to do. Picking up my phone, I dialed Murda’s number. The phone rang a couple times before it connected.

“Sup?” he answered.

“What the fuck were you doing?”

“Shit, just working on this car at the shop. Some wrong?”

“Some gon’ be wrong if I don’t get this shit for my wife. I need you to run somewhere with me. Make sure you got some heat on you too.”

“A’ight.”

“I’ll be through there in a bit to pick you up.” Removing the phone from my ear, I ended the call and got up from the couch.Wren was at work, and hopefully, by the time she got home, I’ll have exactly what she wants.
