I’m closer to my due date now and I’m more nervous than ever. Solei and the family planned us a baby shower. I’m hoping that everything goes well unlike the gender reveal. Instead of having it at the house, they rented out a venue. I’m not sure what anything looks like. I was told to find something pink to wear and leave everything else up to them. Aria was even in on it a bit. I’m assuming they brought her in to see what I actually liked.

It's now warm outside and I’m so glad that the cold months were over. I’d be burning up in some of my clothes, trying my best to keep warm, while having hot flashes from beingpregnant. These days, I’ve gotten to the point where I barely want on any clothes. I wasn’t spending much time out of the house. Maniac ripped me away from my job a couple months ago, so I hadn’t been there. Since I haven’t been able to go to work, I’ve been putting plans in motion for the building that he’d bought me. It took me some time to figure out if I wanted to open a library or bookstore.

“What’s taking you so long to get dressed?” Maniac asked me from the doorway, grasping me from my thoughts.

“Sorry, I got a bit sidetracked. Can you put my shoes on for me?” I asked him, dangling my silver Christian Louboutins.

Maniac entered the room and kneeled in front of me. Gripping one of my shoes, he lifted my foot and slipped it on then clasped it. The way this man handles me with care is insane, especially since I know how he does everyone else. Somehow, I’ve managed to get a soft spot in this man’s heart.

He took the other shoe and slipped it on. The pads of my fingers trailed his jawline. Our gaze locked. “You’re so handsome when you’re taking care of me.”

His lips curved just a lil at one corner first, then the other followed softening his whole expression. “Oh, so only when I’m taking care of you, huh?”

“No, but especially when you’re taking care of me.” His lips parted and I covered them with mine to shut him up. “Let’s go,” I said when our lips peeled apart.

Gripping me by the hand, he helped me to my feet. I’m not even sure why I’d put on heels in the first place to go somewhere, knowing that my feet gon’ be barking within the next thirty minutes.

I grabbed my clutch off the dresser and we exited the bedroom. When we got downstairs, all of the cats were standing outside the bedroom door except for Zilla. “What’s going on down there?” I asked Maniac.

“Nothing,” he quickly replied, pulling me toward the door, causing me to trip over my own feet.

“Where’s Zilla?” I couldn’t help but ask.

Pulling away from him, I headed toward the cats to see what was going on. When I got to the doorway, I saw Zilla taped to the wall. “Maniac!” I slapped him against the chest and went into the room. The cats followed me. Reaching up, I ripped the tape from the wall and Zilla slowly peeled away from it, tumbling to the floor.

“Now, why would you do this?” I questioned him as Zilla dropped to the floor. I’ve reached the size in my pregnancy that I couldn’t bend down like that, so I wasn’t able to pick him up and make sure that he was all right.

“That mufucka bad as fuck. You be letting him play you.”

“Take that tape off my cat.”

Maniac eyed me before leaning down and ripping the tape off Zilla’s back. It removed a couple spots of his fur, and I gasped.

“We’ll discuss this later,” I told him and left out the room with him right on my heels.

The baby shower was fun. I liked watching everyone play the games. Unlike the gender reveal, everyone had a good time. There were so many gifts that was bought. Some which couldn’t even be brought into the building because they were so big. I’m grateful for everything that everyone has done for my lil family. When I was brought into this family, I never thought that they’d love me and treat me as if I was one of their own, but that’s exactly what they did. These people welcomed me with open arms despite what everyone else had to say about them. I don’t think I would rather be a part of another family.

“You okay?” Luxe questioned me, bringing me from my thoughts. Everyone was still mingling and talking even though the baby shower was winding down.

“Yeah. I’m so grateful for everything that y’all have done for us. I can’t thank y’all enough.”

Luxe waved me off. Girl, you’re bringing the first heir into the family, you’re lucky they didn’t go harder than this.”

“I can’t imagine anything more than this.”

“Trust me, it’s possible.” She patted me on the shoulder and then walked away from the table.

Everyone started leaving while the men packed up a moving van with all the gifts. We didn’t make it through everything that was bought. I’d go through it another day and have everything set up in the nursery so that it’ll be ready by the time the baby gets here.

“How are you feeling?” Liliana asked when she sat down at the table with me.

“My feet are killing me.”

She snickered. “I don’t even know why you didn’t just put on some flat shoes. You should’ve known better than that.”

“I thought they were cute and it went perfectly with my dress.”

“Girl, you’re pregnant. You shouldn’t be worried about no fashion. Your main concern should be being comfortable.”
